Monday’s lineups: Tigers vs. White Sox

Austin Romine gets his third consecutive start against a lefty. Alex Avila is in the lineup again as well, though he has hit John Danks fairly well in his career). The White Sox, meanwhile, have both Danks going today.

Gonzalez 167 .219 .233 .452 4 SO
Avila 167 .286 .222 .508 21 SO

caught stealing % 22 compared to league average of 26.
But he has done better at the plate the past few outings……. *commence hopes and dreams*

Going to the game tonight…..hope it doesn’t rain!

It is time for a change. Give Holaday the opportunity to play every day. Avila 5 SO in 7 AB vs LHP

Maybe he will go 4 for 4 today but he will be the same again tomorrow

The White Sox have scored 106 runs. They have given up 106 runs. Pitching, defense. Go Tigers!

That was on Avila, he had time to make the out

Babip for Miguel 260

It looks like out.

Terrific to see Miguel at 1st base again. Athleticism at your position shows up even more with instant replay.

Jackson did not like Castellanos passivity, he had to stop or wave him

On the line

Definitely a fair ball. I hate these challenges, so far—-I think they can be improved.
Anibal sharp but c’mon, offense—this is pathetic and it has been. Again, without Miggy being Miggy, this team has no chance.

The guy is safe at home.. Please, put Holaday in there.

Anibal is probably my favorite Tiger pitcher. No run support and some sorry fielding.

25 games with 2 or less runs. Nothing to show for it

I’m sorry but this is one of those nights that are emotional for me (we are leaving Baja and heading back north) and it is driving me crazy that our offense is so impotent. Yes, Miggy is largely responsible but not not solely responsible.
Let’s see what Worth and JD bring to the table.. BTW, NC has to develop some better plate discipline and pitch recognition. When (not if) he does he will be a Magnum Force.

Sanchez ran out of gas here in the 7th after 90+ pitches. He gives up 3 doubles and a single and that’s the story for this lifeless Tigers offense! Another low scoring game, this time a loss.

It’s not over yet, but Krol needs to get out of this.

Hunter had to catch it and Davis to make a decent throw. Jackson missed too.

Good luck with Konerko.

They get guys on base and then fail.

Well they had 1st and 3rd w/1 out but for once Ian Kinsler stunk w/GIDP and failed to score! It’s over until they get a hitting coach.

Well if you can’t hit you have tto pitch better. Ive said it 100 times this is what this season is ggoing to be like boring lifeless Detroit Tigers.

Just when you really want alex to go away he does that.

They need to figure out how to win night games. 2-6 at night, 7-1 in daylight.

Bases loaded , 1 run. That is how a game is lost

Bug guys not very big. I’ll give Miguel a lot of slack but its starting to wear thin. Not fun or Interesting to watch so far at all this year.

Well, our BP has come around and now the offense needs to show up. So many baserunners with 2 outs and they leave them out there.
The replays just goes to show how inaccurate the umpires and their seeing “eyes” just aren’t good enough in today’s world. Some folks say they miss the manager/umpire arguments, but not me. I’d rather the players be a little more competitie with each other than umpires. Armando Galarraga cheated out of a perfect game. That was a crime and should have been overtturned. Let the technology tell the truth.

I don’t mind replay what I don’t like us what happened tonight. .Ventura lost his first challenge ….your supposed get one if you lose the first but if you if you bat your eyelashes you get another one

If the manager loses the 1st challenge, the umpires use their discretion to review the play.
The players are so used to getting the ball first and around the plate or base and getting that call. They have to learn that we can see who gets their leg or hand on the base or plate first. Some of them need to quickly use their mitt and actually touch the opposing player ASAP.

Don’t even know if Tigers could hit the Diamondbacks right now

Tigers gotta somehow get that offense jump started .Miggys bat speed is not what it should be . This was a game they should have won !!!!

we’ll get them tomorrow. just one game. miggy will come around, and until then – we just need to keep the record decent. which we have.

The bottom of the 2nd and 7th inning killed us. Men on with 1 out and DP’s or 2 pop ups to end the potential rallies. We need offense ASAP! Come on Miggy and troops, let’s jump start this offense!

Yes Jay you are right gotta break up that double play . Until Miggy gets his hitting back the others have to step up . Did you hear me Alex ??

When you have someone like Denks on the mound, you have to go for the jugular. We had him, and bowed down to him, and he lasted into the seventh. When you have no offense, sometimes giving up even 1 run will make you a loser; give up three and you’re out the door. Sad to say, Avila and the new guy gave us a chance, but no cigar. In all reality, I’m beginning to wonder if this will be Miggy’s Pujols 2012 year.
There is no lightning in the bat; he’s starting to press, which makes things worse.
Sanchez through so well through six, and then imploded. The Davis throw was horrible too. The inconsistent offense is going to remain a big problem, unless Miggy goes on a monster rampage for about 10 straight games. Ian disappointed twice tonight. 0-10 for RISP is a losing recipe. Well, I’ve whined enough. I did like three things from tonight’s game:
1. Reed/Miller both have good strong arms. They will be important during the season.
2. Miggy’s great defensive play in foul territory. His defense is outshining his O by a wide margin.
3. The bleeding was confined to only one inning. No add ons for Hawk and Friends; we had our chances; wasn’t meant to be.
Kudos to Alex for the great swing in the ninth JV needs to throw a no hitter tomorrow. Maybe we could scratch outr a run to win 1-0. Please Miguel, you’ve got your money; time to call in the chips.

Romine is a terrific shortstop!

Torii in RF —-not so much. The ball down the line by Abreau actually should have been caught. The guy is a great person and was a terrific ballplayer. But playing a fielding position regularly, well, at that age is almost impossible.
