Saturday’s lineups: Tigers at Marlins

Miami 026

Sorry to be so late with the lineups, but there aren’t really any surprises here. Jhonny Peralta gets a second consecutive start in left field. Other than that, it’s the regular lineup without DH Victor Martinez.

Miguel Cabrera is expected to be off tomorrow, so this could well be his regular-season finale to wrap up his third consecutive batting title and get one more shot at the RBI title.

The other statistical race to watch is the AL ERA race, where Anibal Sanchez (2.64) holds a narrow lead over Bartolo Colon (who finished his season last night at 2.65) and Hisashi Iwakuma (2.66).

On the Marlins side, former Tigers catching prospect Rob Brantly gets the start behind the plate.

It doesn’t make any sense that Pena doesn’t get any starts. Hopefully, situations like this never happen again.

Rob Brantly catching for the Marlins I just noticed.

Wow. I’ve been a Leyland supporter, tried and true. But this is just nuts! Playing both Peralta and Iglesias at SS, with nobody in LF?? I’m a little worried how that’ll work out… :-/

One run game, again.

How do you get excited for the post season when we have a team that averages barely over 2 runs a game?
The amount of money that has been paid to this team based on hitting prowess and we llook like one of the worst hitting teams in baseball at a the most critical time
There is a huge problem with this team and it seems to a trademark of JL-DD teams.
We have played awful teams lately and we can barely compete with them.

All the announcers are talking about are the “stars”. The stars have lots of individual awards. Batting averages look good, but how much good is it when you can’t score runs? Just numbers that look good. Light a candle that our pitching can hold it all together, because that’s the best thing we have going for us.

Fantastic game by Anibal.

Hitting the cover off the ball again u see.

Jhonny didn’t have one ball hit to him in LF. Wait til Oakland.

Just Hope & Dream. Works for JL. If that doesn`t work then pray

Tiger fans have to put up with a lot. This tam, lately, has been very disappointing in terms of producing runs at all , let alone as would be expected of a team that is considered to be the best or one of, the best in baseball

Well, Jhonny is in at SS. That ought to tell you something.

My theory on Castellanos is they don’t want to overexpose him. He is a prized prospect but this might not be the time to put his feet to the fire. Jim will probably start him tomorrow in LF.

Doubt it

Not much to be proud of and lots to be concerned about.

Well, I could offer my opinion, but I won’t.

Predictable

There is an enormous disconnect with the team and its stating pitchers. They just can`t seem to win the big one for their starters.

Maybe Jhonny will hit a Hr.

2E has almost no chance of even hitting the ball here

Jim is still trying to figure out his bp and who’s going to play where while we get our butts kicked.

Please don`t play Castellanos. He has no business thinking he can hit as well as anybody on this dynamically balanced offense.

Well………..I wish they would have like announced that it would be spring training this weekend. I could have found other ways to occupy the last two evenings.
I’ve got to hand it to Jim and his team; they sure know how to squeeze every bit of fun out of going to the postseason. Odd outfit. Oh well.

This team as they have been playing last several weeks will be lucky to not get swept .

Spring training …regardless this is how these guys have been playing been playing for several weeks.

I guess Leyland had no interest in winning that one. Who would leave Reed in after he hits a guy in the head and obviously had no control? Seriously limping into the playoffs. Unless they flip a switch and get hot (and Cabby gets healthy) I don’t see them going very far. Cabby should have went on the DL in early September but that’s another argument entirely.

2nd worst team in baseball. …..2nd worst. They look like fools

That’s their evil plan, to look like fools. Suck ‘em in, then turn it on. ??

Spring Training With their regular lineup
Trouble is it doesn`t matter who is playing they seem to think it means they don`t have to hit.

Since they are a streaky team, it is good news the way they are playing. If they were hot now, they would cool down in bad moment

Seems like only the starting pitchers really are taking their jobs seriously right now.
The hitting is embarrassing. Not hitting this guy is embarrassing. 2E is embarrassing. Put Castellanos in!!!
