Sunday’s lineups: Tigers vs. White Sox

The lineup was posted when the clubhouse opened this morning, so it wasn’t necessarily a statement on Cabrera’s status. Rather, Leyland wasn’t taking any chances playing him today. Torii Hunter gets the day game after the night game off, giving Nick Castellanos a chance to start.

Both Paul Konerko and Adam Dunn are off today for the White Sox, which means Avisail Garcia gets to bat cleanup.

Dude was out at first on the double play…..Joyce upping first?

Ump cost us a run…….shocker of all shockers.

Mark Wegner

Well shock Andy wasn’t tagged either screw up #2 …….

omar is .317? holy cow

Slg:449

omar, hunter, peralta….all have batted better than i expected this year.

Two of them in contract year. The other one wanting to show up the Halos

he really does.

Not in love with the strike zone, but Sanchez is having a very hard time with the strike zone.

OK, I’m starting to get upset. Anibal doesn’t have his best stuff today. Tigers better give him some run support for crissakes.

That’s a “little” better, Prince!

That was a major bomb!

Victor looking like an Olympic sprinter running from 1st to 3rd. When you see him do that, you realize how poorly Miggy was able to move.

Stealing a base on the Tigers that almost never happens???

jackson WTF!

Austin looked like he screwed that one up………

And another misplay……….

Pretty disappointing outing for Anibal…..although I don’t think his buddies helped him much this inning.

Bad day for that. Short bullpen and he is already at 99

glad to see the skip put evan in. it’s been 18 days since he last pitched yea?

That’s how you catch a pop up behind 3rd……,take note Tigers….,I just remembered how we beat this guy last time Chicago committed 4 errors behind him for several unearned runs (4 or 5 unearned)

JL you watching this get the kid out of there

good job JL

Strikes are illuding the tigers along with hit and runs…….two miraculous comebacks in two days?

Santiago having a hard time making throws to first….looks like he can barely get them there.

oh that’s just the infamous fatigue [yawn]

You don’t think his throws look a bit short

evan reed stayin out there for another inning huh JL? what in the heck!

There is no one else

smyly still tired from thursday huh

In an open game, better not waste him.

No party until next tuesday.

Well disappointed with Anibal today….haven’t said that much this year….but the hitters weren’t very timely with their hits ..they had the same amount hits but they had three more runs. There was some shorty defense for the tigers in 5th inning. Wasn’t meant to be today I guess, Cleveland keeps on rolling.

Just looked it up Cleveland has swept SIX 4 games series this year. That’s amazing.

We really could use a return to form from Austin Jackson. He’s not hitting well, shows no creativity on the bases nor at the plate, has been only adequate in CF and is not sparking the offense.
The lousy playoff scheduling sees 4 off days for us before playing on the 4th.
This pretty much means JL will be able to set the rotation up any way he chooses.
Will be interesting to see who pitches the 1st game against the Marlins. Will JL stay with the rotation and throw RP or skip RP altogether and get him ready for his impending role?
We have seen Jim make some odd choices in the post-season. I hope he doesn’t set things up so that JV opens in Oakland.

I don’t know when I’ve ever seen something like this. Subtract head to head and the standings are:
Cle 82-55 .599
Det 76-61 .554
To me, this shows that Cleveland doesn’t snooze when playing “lesser” opponents.
We’ll have to win two in Minnesota to avoid going to the final weekend.

Does anyone know how many pitches Anibal threw in his last game before today. Seems like I remember him throwing a lot. He just didn’t have the pinpoint control we’re used to seeing from him. Gotta win a couple more. Go Tigers!!!!!!

125 pitches and 116 the game before.
We had both games on TV in Venezuela and I mentioned that he was there too long before his last inning in both games

It appears they will have to be in Oakland to start the play-offs. May I say I don’t like that? They’ve bumped the A’s off twice in play-offs, 2006 and 2012 that I remember, but that team gives the Tigers fits just like KC. Everything will have to go down perfect for the Tigers to knock them off again. Pitching and hitting. If the Tigers get into one of their hitting funks, clunk.

To answer your question Kathy he thre 125 pitches

Six games to go and we are ready to sprint the last week of the season. Will we pass up Oakland for homefield advantage?? A road trip far to the North and then way down South. Do they spend the day off in Detroit?? Did Downs put any pressure on Phil for that second lefty in the pen?? Smyly has absolutely horrible numbers against Oakland. And Phil was down in Toledo when we faced Oakland in August and I believe it was by design. Alvarez was pounded by the As. The starter Oakland has seen very little is Porcello. His only two innings of relief pitching in the regular season were against them.

Thank you ElTigre and gk. I don’t even want to think about Oakland until we clinch and enjoy.

As to Miggy. The approach to managing his injuries has been wrong-headed. it is very important that he get physically healthy. If they insist on playing him then they simply have to DH him.
There is no other sensible way to keep him seeing pitches.
If that means Avila and VMart have to share duties in order to achieve this, then so be it.
I’d rather they just sit him out and give him 2 full weeks of rest. I understand the conundrum of timing. Well, two things, we are talking about a very special hitter here and how has the playing while injured thing helped his timing?

rookie dress up day always makes me laugh. even when i am half angry at the guys. Evan Reed is huge!
