Monday’s lineups: Tigers at White Sox

Nick Castellanos gets the start again in left field, this time batting sixth. It’s an interesting decision when you consider that Matt Tuiasosopo has hit Chris Sale a bit this year (4-for-11 with a home run, including two ground-ball singles in their last meeting August 12), but it’s a good test for Castellanos against a power lefty.

Somebody mentioned that Cabrera wasn’t in a lineup that was previously posted somewhere, but I didn’t see it. When the clubhouse opened, the lineup that was posted had Cabrera in it.

As good as Max has been I’m concerned not because of him but because of the hitters, nobody has ver favorable numbers against Sale.

Victor is 8 for 11 this year vs him. And Victor is still hitting 30 points less against other LHP.
Torii is hitting 333 vs him
And Miguel is 3 for 7 this year with 3 walks.
2, 3, 5 could do the trick

GK have you considered the flip side of the coin? CHISOX are batting abysmal this year – including lately

We could have a pitching duel between two of the top 4 pitchers in the AL. Scherzer, Hernandez, Darvish,Sale could be the result of the Cy Young Award. On the bright side, Sale is in just his second year as starter and still is building the stamina for a full season.

as a continuation from a previous thought. it is hard to listen to FSN staff praise and praise the tigers. Here is a fun article in that arena of thought you might like http://www.detroittigersnark.blogspot.com/2013/08/hey-tigers-media-dont-feed-us-nonsense.html

30-19 since the ASG so far

Awesome…..way to go!

Is Jim kicked out, too?

Unstinken believeable. What kind if idiot umpires are running the show tonight?

These Freaking umps are out of control….it’s just amazing these idiots at still employed.

Now he’s squeezing Max on top of it….guess we know what agenda this ump has now!

Why Leyland waited that much to go there? It is job to avoid that escalating into something bigger.

Why the heck didn’t they walk Konerko? Why pitch to him with first base wide open?

Just because of the lefty/right split. It was so obvious that Konerko was going to get a hit there. It just smelled really, really bad.

Congrats ump this s on you……you throw out our best player and then you squeeze him in order to give white Soxs a chance because you are a vindictive tiny lite man. Better see Sale get the same tiny strike zone but I’m sure I won’t because now he as an agenda.

Prince shoulda Ben on base with a walk but no he gave Sale a strike call that was clearly out of te zone.

This team is going through the motions. They are playing like a club just trying to get to and end point without doing the work to get there. They are over confident and are taking that the division is theirs for granted. Nothing is a given and they need to play and manage with much more urgency.

How discouraging. If Sale pitches like he is capable of doing and the Tigers don’t hit to pick up on the loss of Miggy, can this game be over already?

no, it’s not over. The Tigers have won quite a few games without Miggy.

9 for 12 now

Max already with too many pitches. Get Coke and AlAl warmed up.

Ump making damn sure of it. Hard to fight a team plus and an umps agenda. They’ll win every single time.

Two pitches inthe Danks AB strikes …..hmmm results in another walk…ump show

Game probably out of reach especially without Miguel.

2nd at bat to Danks more of he same…..pitch zone.

Hate to admit it but this game sure has that “shut-out” kind of feeling to it doesn’t it? I make that observation now in the bottom of the 4th inning hoping against hope that I will be proven wrong. And with Cleveland winning tonight?? This is not a good feeling.

I don’t like the way they look, but it’s up to them to change the view.

I’m going to give the first inning runs to the ump and I’ll give two of the three here in the 4th to him as well. Flipping ump. And sure as heck these hitters of ours aren’t going to do anything.

Now, there’s a hit by Nick. I’d get the ball for that one.

Cleveland won…..be prepared to be 41/2 back.

Unbelievable!! Who would have thought a week ago we’d be sitting here today looking at only a 4 1/2 game lead?

Not only did he eject Miguel, but because of his arrogance and squeezing Max (and yes I truly believe he caused Max 4 runs) his era ballooned to over 3.00 and may very well cost him te Cy Young. I

Honestly just once I’d like to hear Rod and Mario instead of continually justifying an obvious wrong just once give me a little outrage at an obvious wrong…or a a obvious pitch that shoulda of been called a strike or a ball. I don’t want a total Hawk Harrelson bias but every once in a while say boy So and so getting squeezed. It’s like they go out of their way to be pro- opposing team. I just don’t get it.

Rich said it … the best offense in baseball. Hardly.

And the noose tightens.

They really look disinterested! Now, instead of the opponent looking at our SP’s and being fearful, the Tig’s are looking fearful at the CY’s out there every day. They might make the wild card this year!

It seems that the Tigers can’t hit left handed pitching. Chris Sale — I can understand. But the Tigers make left handers with losing records look like All Stars. Does anyone know the Tigers’ batting average versus left handers as opposed to right handers? Does anyone know the Tigers’ win-loss record versus left handed starters as opposed to right handed starters? It just seems that if an opposing left hander is on the mound, the Tigers might just as well stay home.
