My theory on Verlander: he has lost fastball velocity and is over throwing trying hit speeds he used to, thus he has no fastball command.

Verlander is just trying too hard. He is not on his game. I thought earlier in the year he was injured and hiding it. He hates losing and is overcompensating with every start. It’s really a shame his head isn’t in straight, but he wants too much to live up to his big contract hype he’s psyching himself out.

That’s why one of the options for DD needs to be evaluate JV through the remainder of 2013 and look to see if there is a deal with a NL large market team that can absorb his contract. You can ask for a SP or C or OF in return and free up some contract $$ potentially. I’m thankful we have Sanchez now and along with Max, Fister & Smiley that makes a formidable 1st 4 in the starting rotation! Porcello could fill the #5 or a minor leaguer or a acquisition. JV to Nats, Dodgers or Mets?

Just my opinion.

Even JV might like that idea! (He would get to hit regularly!!!)

Looks like the 2nd half Fister didn’t show up. No Mister Fister today but maybe Sister Fister?
We are almost out of this game already in the 2nd.

Willingham claimed on waivers. DD?

Observation: Iglesias really needs to work on plate discipline. He looks like a Aanny Sanguillen without the contact. Swings at everything. Hopefully he figures this out quickly.

Not watching had a commitment tonight but what the hell is going on with our pitchers

Fister´s FIP is 3.25 good for 8th in the AL. Most hits today have been the result of bad luck

Im more worried about the absent offense

I think Iggy has got to be our lead off hitter eventually. He can get those infield hits and has speed. He’s got spark. I’d definitely put Victor after Miggy and then Prince until he gets going. Drop Jackson down to 9th when and if Iggy is leadoff. Just opining, of course.

What happened my god it all cant be bad luck? This is all of a sudden becoming more than a few bad games.

Jackson is having his worst game in while.4 of the runs are on him

Just came home. A worse disaster than the last 2 nights.

Just got home myself. Monday was bad but we still had a chance to win….last night was worse than Monday today just makes me want to cry. I don’t know whether to be mad, or worried or what? Really glad I didn’t have to see most of it.

Ditto on that Adam…..this is beyond maddening. As fun as the weekend was the week before against the twins was bad and this is beyond bad this makes me want to throw something. This pitching is majorly disturbing.

It’s the lack of runs that disturbs me. I figure Cabrera is 70% of the offense. Is that too high? Too low?

Atlanta takes two from Cleveland by a total score of 5-2.
Since the end of the 12 game win streak, Detroit has gone 9-11.
Detroit’s longest losing streak this season is 4 games.
It’s about time to rip off 8 wins in 10 games and put this thing to rest.

This may be the mark of a paranoid fan but I am always worried that our Tigers are on the verge of slipping from a good team to a bad team. Were the ’84 Tigers ever a bad team/ The ’68 Tigers?
By that I don’t mean losing a few in a row, I mean having stretches where they are horribly inconsistent and playing poorly.

Will Max be our stopper?? Go Tigers!!!

If this rotation falters we are in a heap of trouble. You take a team with no speed, team wide batting slumps, poor playing, an inferior bull-pen and an injured Miggy, and what do you have?
I’ve been worried about Smyly for a while now. I think he has been mis-used all year and he is becoming disillusioned. He certainly has bee n getting hit and giving up runs.. We are seeing a late-inning relief corp that is hardly ever needed. Either we win without needing them or lose without needing them. Smyly has been used in critical situations very little the last month.

Why is Alvarez still around?? Bring up Reed

He’s not Vinny. They sent him down and called up Cool Hand Luke.

Iglesias is fast. The problem is so are AJ and Granderson. The Tigers simply do not like to run. AJ doesn’t get a good lead, actually horrible against lefties, and doesn’t get a good jump. He has not seemed to want to accept the role of base-stealer or, worse, even to want to learn the craft. The question would remain is would they teach Iglesias and expect him to steal? Probably not.
The guy that seems to like to steal is playing well for Toledo right now—-Perez.
Wouldn’t it be nice to see VMart batting clean-up tomorrow?
Fielder has un-learned how to pull the ball to right field.
