Saturday’s lineups: Tigers at Mets

As expected, Victor Martinez gets the day off, bringing back Brayan Pena behind the plate to catch Max Scherzer. Meanwhile Jose Iglesias, who had started at shortstop every game since the other series in New York (the one against the Yankees two weeks ago), gets the day off in favor of Ramon Santiago. (UPDATE: Jim Leyland apparently told reporters that Iglesias is unavailable after taking that hit-by-pitch around his elbow late in last night’s win.)

Torii Hunter also gets a day off in favor of Matt Tuiasosopo, who will play left field while Andy Dirks shifts over to right field. Add in Omar Infante batting second, and it’s an interesting lineup against Matt Marvey.

Whimpy lineup. …..jeez I mean I understand you cant play Vmart, but why also rest Hunter and Iglesias. Boy throwing in the towel Leyland before it even starts.?

Jimmy wants everybody to stop saying Max gets lots of run support.

Oh boy I didn’t realize Jose was out because of injury.

Harvey vs Scherzer and I’m blacked out. MLB sure knows how to treat their customers, don’t they?

Max just got a double and an rbi….sorry you’re blacked out that stinks

That was a real treat to see….Max running the bases.

Blacked out here too. No MLB.TV. Fox has Red Sox-Dodgers. Great for Max. Let’s keep it going. Harvey has made a lot of pitches already.

You’d think especially since its on the computer and your paying extra to watch it you could watch whatever the hell you wanted. Wouldn’t cost them a dime.

Max looking very Max like.

GK—-what do you think of this strike zone!

I thought pretty fair but see my comment below on the Davis AB. That was weak.

You?

Oh my did Max get hosed on that walk to Ike Davis…honestly 1 pitch was borderline but a strike the other was no doubt down the middle strike. Luckily it didn’t cost him on the scoreboard but probably 8 pitches.

Looks like Harvey is settling in.

Stranding runners will kill you. More than just the obvious way. It deflates the offense and empowers the opposition.
This game, as good as Max has been, it is starting to feel like a trap.

Ump is making sure of that?

I’d better see a shrunken strike zone for Harvey next inning. Effectively what he’s done is taken Max out of the game. Have I ever mentioned my complete lack of respect for umpires?

Come to think of it……yes! Yes indeed! Go Tigers!!!!!!!!

What was s great pitching match he’s effectively ending it

Way for those Tigers to work a count and make Harvey throw 10 whole pitches after Scherzer just threw over 30.

Gosh if Miggy cant even get to that?

Well, this has gotten tense.

Mercy, he got out of a real jam!!!

Way to go Max

People complained an awful lot about Lamont Brookens runs us into a ton of outs at home. Im sorry hes been bad.

And, we thought Gene was bad.

Well, Omar is hurt and Miggy took himself out. What is going on?

Dan and Jim said Miggy took off, but he’s back now.

2E was safe!

I’d like to see another replay…2E at 1st and second glance kinda looked safe.

Umpire right there and still screwed up the call. …imagine that….cannot believe he screwed that up it almost never haopens. #/! $##$##$! Umpires#/^#^&&

He was popping up before It was in the stinking glove how the hell can you miss that. Missed out out on at least 2 more runs that inning between Brookens inexcusable decsion to send a hobbled Infante, heck you dont send a perfectly healthy Infante there.

Miggy caught that ball right in front of 2 Tiger fans!

All the complaints about the lineup (myself as well) and they get 15 hits!

Ya go figure……through the years when he has done that I always seem to be eating crow. Heck look how well they hit and how many runs they scored when miggy was out.

Great to see Max get the win because the efficiency of our offense was non-existent. 15 hits ought to score you a lot more than 3 runs.

Game winning RBI?
Max Scherzer!!!!

Who cares if they didn’t get more runs, they got enough. Be positive…sheesh.

Great to see Max get an RBI.

Fortunately 3 runs was enough, but he’s exactly right most of the time it doesn’t work in your favor. It has nothing to do with being positive it’s just realistic.

I won’t be watching the replay of this one, but I think it may have driven me crazy if I’d seen it. 15 hits should produce more than 3 runs. It’s not a matter of being positive or negative, it’s just a fact.
Congrats to Max for joining Roger Clemens and Rube Marquard (a name known throughout the world).
Going for a rare road sweep may be tough tomorrow, but they’ve done it before, and in a much more hostile environment.

Rich at least watch the second inning just to see Max’s hit.

Oh I saw Max’s double on a highlight. It was hard to miss.

The realism is they won the game, that works for me.

You have to score when you have opportunities. I understand Sara’s positivity and it is commendable. But, you can’t not score runs when you have opportunities. They are hard enough to come by and Oct 24;25;27;28 2012 are realities too.
2006……..2012……Illitch and I are getting old. We want to see a flag over Comerica!!! And well played baseball to ensure we get there.

Understandable Dan, I hope this is the year they can do that for Mr. I, yourself and all of us diehard Tiger fans.
