Saturday’s lineups: Tigers vs. Royals

Jim Leyland had planned on giving Torii Hunter this game off, which is why Hunter played in both games Friday. This time, however, Don Kelly moves up in the order to bat second. He’s 4-for-7 off Wade Davis, so it could be Leyland said it’s a simple matchups decision. Andy Dirks, 2-for-9 off Davis, sticks in the sixth spot.

The Royals get Mike Moustakas back after missing the last four days with tightness in his left calf. His return bumps Emilio Bonifacio to center field (for now until Lorenzo Cain returns) and knocks Jarrod Dyson out of the lineup tonight.

Tonight’s game is on MLB Network in some markets, but not many. If you’re in SoCal or Philly, where Dodgers-Phillies is likely blacked out, you’re in luck. Elsewhere, your best bet is either FSD, MLB.TV or the Extra Innings package.

At the risk of sounding like a geeky stage musical, “The dark hours are behind us. Tonight we dance!”

Donnie Kelly, Baby, Prince & Victor start the party.

A squeeze!!! What a play!!!

Love it when Rod says “remedy for success.” If you’re having success, that can be remedied. 🙂 I don’t even want to tell him.

Looks like we need to remedy the success the Royals are having this inning.

and if you’re not having success, there’s a remedy for it.

Gameday:Loves to Face: Knuckleball

We need a remedy from umpires.

What a mess.

At the game guys what exactly did you see that got them fired up

The ball hit the ground and then hit his bat.

Pitch bounced, hit the bat, should have been foul ball.

If you were wondering what else could go wrong, it just did. A bouncing, wild pitch, passed ball, foul ball that the umpires missed. I was afraid 3 runs wasn’t going to be enough.

Shocker an ump screwed it up and not just one but 4 couldn’t get it right

Seriously does that stuff ever go in our favor it sure doesnt seem like it

Well, how many times can you recall an opposing manager coming onto the field to argue a blatantly blown call?

Not sure I am happy about losing Davis. The KC bullpen has been tough for the Tigers. Now will it be the Dark Prince again?

Yep. You saw him. The Dark Prince Vader, a rally killer as usual.

Strasburg and Davey Johnson ejected after the Braves drilled Bryce Harper all season. There’s no justice in this stuff.

KC just drives them nuts. Spraying the ball all over the place. Can it ever end? The Tigers have to get more runs. I can’t believe 4 will hold up.

Nick Castellanos , 2B/ 3 SO

Why is Fister back? where are Rondon, Smyly and Veras?

“Ramon Santiago replaces Omar Infante at second base. Infante is not 100%.”

5th HR of the season

There’s smyly coughing up the lead!

Awsome Prince!

Awesome throw away the dang ball. There pen will kick ours butt. Nobody but Benoit is one bit reliable and that includes smyly these days.

The 4th prospect for that?

Was Santiago standing in mud there or does he just not give a crap either. Cough it up boys cough it up.

Thanks for the free out

We have to win it right now, this inning.

Told ya.

Fundamentals not much, pitching not today, HR better than small ball.

After the 7th just 246 but 9 HR and 21 RBI

I’m glad we won that because losing would have ruined what had been a very intriguing ballgame. Other favorite moment: Lynn Henning in a tweet wondering why they didn’t hold back Benoit for a “legitimate save situation.” Snark factor IV by me.
You people young enough, you’ll be telling your grandkids about Miguel Cabrera 50 years from now.

I like KC’s approach to the game, slap hit singles, 4-5 guys w/speed and never quit attitude, strong SP’s, solid BP and youth that wants to win. I wish the Tig’s had that style and speed sometimes. A good “W” in spite of Fister’s usual sloppy inning(s)!

I’d rather be in 1st place

The Dark Prince must have heard me. He hit the game winning HR. Oops, wait a minute. The bullpen savior Veras just blew it. Thank you Miggy! I can sleep better tonight. I sure hope Max can cut down these KC slap hitters Sunday. I’m tired of their steal at will arrogance.

Miggy is a beast.

Veras has been a pretty significant disappointment so far. Not a whole lot of Ks either. Smyly has been vulnerable lately.
Bullpen is still shaky, i.e. inconsistent.

KC just singles you to death ….and if your not in the right position your in dodo.

I think Peña is a good professional but he failed twice. As we say here , there is not” I thought in baseball”. He had to go for the ball when the ump did not call the strike. Make him expelled was the second but that is not the first for a Tiger´s catcher recently ( Laird while running)

KC is fun to watch, and they don’t appear to have any jerks on the roster, so it makes for good ballgames. Drives ya crazy, but good baseball.
Scherzer has routinely altered his delivery times this season, so it will be interesting to see if that slows the Royals down today.
With the series at 2-2, no huge statements will have been made, standings-wise.
