Berry claimed on waivers by Royals

Quintin Berry is headed to Triple-A Omaha after the Royals claimed him on waivers from the Tigers. Detroit designated Berry for assignment on Wednesday to make room for Francisco Martinez.

No word on what will happen with the Triple-A Toledo roster to fill his spot. The Mud Hens have been a man down since Berry was designated, but if Austin Jackson is close to a rehab assignment, he can fill that spot for a few days. Then the Hens will get an outfielder from Detroit (presumably Avisail Garcia) when Jackson is activated.

garcia to the hens is going to razz the masses – but for his own developement’s sake…unless torii or jackson is hurt he’s gotta go back to working on his stuff.
Let me suggest he works on bunting.

It is amazing in baseball how fast people will fall (Chris Shelton, Brennan Boesch, QB). Tough sport, always changing.

Good luck QB, too bad you can’t steal first base.

One way of looking at this: Berry thought he deserved to make the team based on last year’s performance, and there is some validity to that thinking. When he didn’t go north, however, he took it absolutely the wrong way. If he’d done better down there, he may have replaced Jackson again this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if he does much much better in Omaha.

One of my very favorite Tigers. Hope the change of scenery brings you all the good things you want. Move on and move up!
