Saturday’s lineup: Tigers vs. Indians

Doc Oc met with Dr. Andrews who confirmed no structural or ligament damage to Dotel’s throwing elbow.

Round 2. Cleveland can swing it. JV is a load. Should be fun.

Jv in trouble here in the 1st already. Not sharp so far?

Oh boy

rain will be at the park very soon

As usual, the extra rest is bothering him

The rain shouldn’t last very long. Justin having a rough start. Not looking good in the 1st inning.

Actually he’s looking downright bad here. Can’t throw a strike.

Better get Drew warming up.

Oh good Jones finally decides to walk his butt out there after he walks a run in. Honestly

Pretty disappointed

Well he was lucky to get out of that with only allowing 2….but 2 too many

For both pitchers. low pitches were called strikes

Hitters go quickly and quietly., especially annoying since your pitcher threw 35 pitches.

JV = 35 pitches in 1st inning? It seems we just can’t depend on him as usual. This isn’t the first time he has done this.

Chalk that to Avila. He took to long to go for the runner

He will go 6 .

I doubt it.

But who knows.

Well it looked like he was going to have a better second inning but no he still was bad.

Quickly and quietly here in the 2nd as well……way to go! Cy Jimenez on the mound. And please nobody tell me he’s a good pitcher, he had one good half year.

My gawd, have we even had a hit yet?

Peralta’s HR extended his hitting streak to 10 games.

Well at least Jhonny got them on the board….

jhonny be good!

Great breaking ball and exploiting the low zone calls.

Cabrera just extended his hitting streak to 10 games as well.

dang victor and andy!

28? streak of games on base

Too bad they wasted 2nd and 3rd with 1 out………….:(

Nice error…..

1 inning and one out short. time to call the bullpen

5 innings while struggling badly. That why he is the Ace. The game is still winnable

Error cost us……….and of course Justin’s bad pitching. And yes he was bad tonight.

Let’s get Jhonny home.

More Great tiger’s at bats there in the 5th. Especially omar.

Just isn’t our night…..pitchers can’t pitch and hitters can’t hit….even a bad pitcher.

the night isn’t over yet. Can’t just give up.

This has loss written all over it.

Dan & Jim think Jimenez is mixing his pitches the best they have ever seen.

They always make good excuses for the hitters when they face a bad pitcher and look this ridiculous.

Just awful.

What is ALBQ doing? He is supposed to back up not be a cutoff man.

Hope they show up tomorrow to play……because they didn’t show up to play tonight.

Jimenez is not a bad pitcher. He has been good lately like his old self

Big hit Omar. Get him in AJ.

Yes he is bad, his era over the last few years says so…….we just weren’t good.

It is the third game we have here with him pitching. He is back

1.80 2 W and 15 K in his previous 3 stars. They need a little time to recover after Denver( like Gunthrie)

He’s had a few games here and there but has never sustained anything. He had one decent year, one really good half inning……and then nothing but crap. You will never convince me he is a good pitcher. A few good games a year does not make him good or even decent.

Please don’t give it right back….AA

No such luck…….

ALBQ looks like crap. i think i’ve mentioned he was the bullpen weak link lately. sigh

two hitters too late and that was strike

Al got cheated on that last pitch. It was a strike.

Albuquerque allowed the IR and the run to secure the game

Yep. And Verlander stunk.

And Smyly wasn’t good.

And the home plate ump stunk for both teams…..inconsistent.

Do we a big hit from AJ?

I can’t watch.

What a bummer.

They battled to the end

Close but no cigar….too bad the pen couldn’t even slow them down a little.

Gotta say there is no way the Tigers deserved to win this game, but I still ended up biting my nails. They made it interesting despite all the pratfalls.

And a great play kept them from comeback

First, want to say it’s possible for a bad pitcher to pitch a good game. Ubaldo pitched a good game. Whether he’s bad or good remains to be seen.
Terrible job by Dale Scott. If you’ve got both teams chirping, both hitters and pitchers, you need to change something. This has been an awful week for umpires. Inserting themselves into the game far too often.

Last out on a ball four. Take it and see what Prince can do.

And possibly get punched out by that blind umpire.

What had been a dull game (I watched a TV show at one point during the game) got pretty darned exciting at the end. They got Cabrera up there to win it. They did what they had to do. Heck of a play by Kipnis saved it for them.
It’s an unfavorable matchup on paper tomorrow. We’ll see how it goes.

As it was for them (Cleveland ) tonight. We’ll see. But regarding Jimenez if the umpire would of even had an assemblance of a strike zone he wouldn’t have looked like that. But our hitters made a lot of quick easy impatient outs and a pitcher that is known for being wild they weren’t patient or worked counts at all. Unlike what Cleveland did.
But what set the tone for the night was Justin Verlander….it’s hard to play catch up no matter how good you are. The pen needed to try to give the team a chance to catch up and Smyly and AA didn’t do that. And one clutch hit short. A lot of things weren’t quite good enough.

Better not become a trend but now 5-8 in one run and extra innings games.
In seasons past though, tonight’s game might well have become a blowout loss.

This one never felt right from the very beginning. JV just couldn’t shake it out completely. The guys couldn’t hit squat. My only question to Justin is why throw Reynolds a high fastball when he can’t hit anything else you throw. That fourth run would be the coffin for JV. Drew and Al both allowed ad on runs. Al’s was the real killer. He’s just not on. Wy too many free rides on base- 8 walks and one error let in another run. Jackson is cold again, Torii finally came alive in the 9th. and Miggy came along for the ride. So was there anything good about this game? I actually saw three things to like about tonight’s miserable showing:
1. We put ourselves in a position to still win the game, even after 6 miserable innings.
2. Omar didn’t waste the opportunity. A big hit was needed then , and his triple opened the door. Absolutely, an unsung hero on this team.
3. We didn’t roll over. At 6-1, it would have been easy to go home, and get ready for tomorrow. This did not happen, and as previously alluded to, we were in a position to tie or win. That’s really all you can ask for in this business.

Kudos to Jhonny for his continued stellar and steady play. I sure hope those bats show up tomorrow, because if that slider of Ricky’s is not sliding, those leftys will give us a fit. Good night all!

Hey Buddy Selig, care to address the umpiring issue around the league? Anyway, Jimenez is a good pitcher. Verlander did not look like a good pitcher tonight. Too many high and outside fastballs. Well, the Tigers did not give up. Why did the SOC let 2E bat? It should have been Kelly. Oh yeah, he put in Kelly to run for Martinez.

happy mothers day to all you mothers in here! Takin’ my wife to the ball park today. Section 338 – it’s gunna be cold (wind chill 42F) but i think the boys are gunna get it together and win the series for us. Today’s a big game for the 2013 team. Go tigers!

“Alineación de hoy vs. CLE: Dirks 7, Hunter 9, Cabrera 5, Fielder 3, Martinez DH, Kelly 8, Peralta 6, Peña 2, Infante 4. Porcello comienza.”

This was just what I was afraid about, putting valverde back in the pitching line up, you would of thought after what has happened with him in the past they would have just let him go, now we are fighting to win the game, bad decision for the tigers

I think Max Scherzer should be voted the best pitcher this year for the detroit tigers, don’t get me wrong verlander is very good but I think he has had his glory days and Max should be moved up, vote for Max!
