Phil Coke throws another inning in Toledo

It wasn’t nearly as long as his outing earlier in the week, with an eight-pitch eighth inning, Phil Coke made his second and possibly final rehab appearance for Triple-A Toledo Thursday night.

Coke actually faced four batters within his eight pitches, inducing back-to-back groundouts before Chris Herrmann sent a sharp ground ball through the middle and off second baseman Brandon Douglas’ glove for a two-out single. Coke followed with a quick third out from Chris Colabello.

Coke, who went on the 15-day disabled list last week with a left groin strain, is eligible to be activated on Saturday. If he feels OK on Friday, that could be the final clearance for his return.

I kinda like how the pen is working right now…no offense towards Phil.

Went to the Hens game – they finally won and in a big fashion, tons of runs. Had to leave before Phil came in though, which was a bummer. Highlight of the night was Quintin Berry waved at my kids as we stood at the outfield fence for a few innings, lowlight was not 10 minutes after we left that area where absolutely no one else was standing, we hit a home run. I missed the Tigers game other than hearing the T-Soap homerun – dude has some clutch hitting in him, too bad it wasn’t enough.

Whelp Putkonen, it was real buddy. Hopefully the skip can get’cha out there once more before ya gone.

albeit i think al al could use some work in AAA, i think i’ve been convinced that won’t happen
