Sunday: Tigers vs. Nationals

Originally, former Tiger Ryan Perry was scheduled to start this game for the Nationals. But with Ross Detwiler back from Team USA, he’ll get the start against something very close to the Tigers’ Opening Day lineup. Danny Worth will start in place of Jhonny Peralta, but that’s about it.

That is the best lineup

Agreed.

Sounds like Garcia will be out for quite some time.

Oh, and I took the RH hitter 99.9% thing to mean that either Kobernus or Tuiasosopo will be going north.

Well, Kobernus has not been helping his cause lately. And 2E has not played any left field yet this spring. The Tigers really want to be able to keep Kobernus. And the rule 5 things hangs heavily over that scenario too. But 2E did play 50+ games in the outfield in the minors last year though most of his career he played 3B and shortstop. So, the guy is versatile too. He’s never really hit a lot but we certainly have seen his power.
I think most people feel that with Ramon’s contract and Danny’s remaining option year that will mean Santiago gets a bench seat. I’m not so convinced. Heck, Leyland may even want to see what Danny can do in the outfield.
My 2 concerns this year are Avila and Peralta. If they can drive in a few runs and hit around .270, great. But I’m having doubts, and we still haven’t heard the end of the Bosch Clinic issue. Kudos to JP for getting in good shape and shedding those pounds, for not taking his job for granted.

wait who is 2E?

Tuiasosopo.

clever

My guess is it will take 3 weeks for Avisail. I’ve done the same thing to my heel and I can tell you it is very painful.

looking more and more like well see porcello with the 5th spot. I could stand to have smyly start the year in AAA, but i’d prefer him to be the long man. IMO if you have an all righty rotation – you’d be smart to have a lefty long man. He can be used as a second bullpen lefty too, thus enabling closer by committee to start the season.

Pitching today by the guys you expect to help you was really really bad today!

“Quintin Berry left the game early due to soreness in the same knee that forced him to miss time earlier this spring, Tigers manager Jim Leyland said after the game.”
