Friday: Tigers vs. Blue Jays

I’m off again today. The legendary former Tigers beat writer Jim Hawkins will be filling in on the site with your notes today, including Casey Crosby’s option to Triple-A Toledo. In the meantime, here are your lineups for today’s game against the Blue Jays, which include another matchup for Jeff Kobernus against Toronto lefty Ricky Romero.

The Jays lineup, meanwhile, includes Luis Jimenez, who if I remember right was the guy hitting moon shots during batting practice at Joker Marchant Stadium when the Blue Jays were in town a few weeks ago. If he connects today, you’ll probably hear about it.

longest spring training, ever.
.
Good luck to you Rick!

Darn, I have to leave. Ricky pitching pretty good, though.

austin really smackin the ball around today!

he’s getting granderson-esq!

hunter might not be a great hitter, but he sure knows what to do when he’s at the plate. productive outs and manufacturing runs…..2 things our offense lacked at times last year.

I’d like to hear (post-game) about Cabby running through that Stop sign.

uh oh, slowbyrne, don’t look now but Tuisosopo[sic] is out there in LF now….

Tuisosopo must be Kelly’s competition!!

and Kobernus.

I was wondering when he would get out there. I have heard that he has a good glove. He has played a little OF in his career. Does have big time power so if he can play the corners he could help. Kobernus has been struggling to get on base. No stolen bases yet, even when he was getting on he didn’t show that part of his game.
2E actually has a chance to break camp if he can show he can play there IMO.

Boesch to the Yankees, $1.5m plus incentives, reported by Heyman.

Just saw that on the local news good for him, just not against us Brennen.

more money than delmon — interesting

Boras plus injury

Hope BB actualizes his potential, just so it doesn’t hurt the Tigers. Maybe he will turn into Ben Ogilvie.

Wow. Good for him. I hope we are all able to say one day “Did you realize Boesch played awhile for the Tigers?”.
He needed a change of scenery. For sure.

Will Cabrera or fielder go to Jupiter on Saturday

fielder for sure

I bet bb will listen to the yankees coachs. He will be hitting hr and extra basehits like we have seen glimpses of here in the

Check Yankees’ fan comments on Long before you commit to that position.

Cesar Carrillo has been suspended 100 games for violating baseball’s minor league drug prevention and treatment program. Albeit, Ryan Braun was linked to the same clinic, dropped dirty, and didn’t get suspended. Just another great message Selig is sending to the league.

I have no way to check it but my friend told me that Carrillo was Ryan Braun’s roommate on the road in college.

The answer is yes, according to Yahoo Sports and other sites. Internet search.

“MLB has greater jurisdiction over minor league players like Carrillo than major leaguers who are protected by the union.”
