Sunday: Tigers at Braves

As expected, Victor Martinez is out of the lineup for a second consecutive day as the Tigers continued to “back him off.” Prince Fielder also isn’t on the trip. Subtract Miguel Cabrera and Omar Infante, who both just left for the World Baseball Classic, and the regulars in the Tigers lineup today consist of Austin Jackson, Torii Hunter, Jhonny Peralta and Alex Avila. Nick Castellanos, however, gets another start in left field.

Minor is a lefty…hitters 5-7 are all righties looking for a major league job.

i’d think 5 and 6 have a better shot but good point none-the-less

Family of Tigers RHP Brayan Villarreal was subject of armed kidnapping attempt in Venezuela, his agent confirmed. They are OK, unharmed.
Morosi. Venezuelan media has not reported yet

Just saw the Tigers/Yanks on MLB from yesterday. It is Spring training and it is early. I think the Lions went 4-0 in pre season and t hen went 0-16 during the regular season. Have not seen Rondon pitch yet. Getting excited about the REAL games! Hey Bob in Toronto, have not heard from you. Go Tigers, 2013!

I am not one of those people that think Coke can be a closer. He cannot get RHB out consistently enough. If Rondon can’t do it then I think the next best guy might be A2. I don’t like Villarael in that role. I think Dotel could do it and Benoit as well. Benoit seems to be the forgotten man when it comes to consideration as a closer. I see no reason why he can’t do it.

Dotel vs LHB:.360/.413/.772 1 save/3 BlownS
Benoit 2/4 . Hennng says that he lacks durability
Coke? his Babip was too high and he will be better vs RHB if he regress .But 0.93 FB/GB so he is not fit as closer for the Tigers
Al Al would be my choice or a committee( the best option)

I confirm that it’s a durability issue in re: to benoit.
.
I think it’d have to be a Al^2…as far as a regular closer. If you go by committee – Coke, Dotel, Al^2 and Benoit could all do it. Even Downs maybe.

From MLBTR.com: “One AL executive cautions not to rule out the Tigers as a major player for the Marlins’ Giancarlo Stanton when the time comes. Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski has strong ties to the Marlins from his time with them and may have the chips to get a deal done. Detroit could use third baseman/outfielder Nick Castellanos, outfielder Avisail Garcia, righty Rick Porcello, and others to entice Miami.
Would not want to lose Castellanos. Would not like to lose Avisail either but Stanton would be coup.

Stolen bases allowed this ST by pitcher:
Hill 3, Plutonium 2, Lobstein 1, Rondon 1 and all others 0
