Quintin Berry and Alex Avila return to the Tigers lineup — Avila for the first time since last Sunday, Berry for the first time since Tuesday.

Gr- no wait, actually i don’t like this lineup as much as it first seems. I would switch up Alex and Peralta. Peralta has what 4 hits in the past 24ABs? Jackson and Infante haven’t really been on fire either….I’d find a way to stick them all in a row…no need to waste a potentially good hitting Alex (rested, was getting steaks and walks before he got hurt) between a couple of struggling guys like Omar and Jhonny?
.
but whatever – we just gotta jump on these guys EARLY for multiple reasons.

Jason’s tweets to the left don’t bode well for Max to start on Sunday.

Your other left, that is.

This is just who we are. Never LHBs back to back. It sets up Gardy to win a battle late in the game. Agree this scoring early has worked lately. Let’s do it again.

Down to a lucky 13? They simply have to take every series from Minnesota and KC. They must go at least 9-4 and hope.

We can not jeopardize Max’s career for any start between now and the end of the season.

agreed. won’t work anyhow – if the guys hurt he’s hurt and he can’t play. simple.

“Since this series was supposed to be the Tigers’ final trip to Chicago this season, Major League Baseball, not the White Sox, was in charge of making the call on Thursday.” reading Twins instead of Chicago.

Make sure you read all this, Evan. There will be a pop quiz later.

oof it’s denser than motor oil

i like this one: “A game shall become a suspended game that must be completed at a future date if the game is terminated for any of the following reasons:
(1) A curfew imposed by law;”

The curfew thing is from the old days, otherwise known as when I was young. Some cities did have curfews and you couldn’t start an inning after midnight, 1 AM, whatever.

The curfew rule applies to insurrections and wars. I dont know ift here was a curfew after the 1967 riots that Horton tried to stop or after blackout in NY( 1977) but that would be the curfew by law.
There was curfew rule in the American League forbding to begin an inning after 1am.but was not impossed by the law.

There was a curfew imposed during the 1967 Detroit riots. I think it was Baltimore that had a city curfew that effected games all the time. Could be wrong about that.

I wouldn’t mind Smyly starting against the Twins if it helps Max come back strong for the next two turns. You don’t want Scherzer injured further, and you also don’t want him pitching badly in this race. Looks like possibly better news at this point.
.
Nobody has any idea how many games we need to win. The White Sox aren’t all that good. They are the epitome of a team hoping to “run into one.” I’m just sticking with the 8-2 homestand. One goal at a time. Ooooommmmm ooooooommmmm one with the universe…..ooooommmmm

WHOSE call it is to start the game (without delay),the Umps
cancel the game,? MLB

stop the game right after we score a go ahead run (e.g. how chicago did a few weeks ago), etc…?If the Tigers score in the bottom fifth or later they win. If Chicago and Detroit has not batted . The games is suspended and continued tomorrow.

.
what happens if the game is stopped, never starts up again….but the score was tied?suspended and played tomorrow

Not sure 100% about the first answer.

thanks – i have the rulebook on my desktop but honestly its hard to read!!

OK, it’s been raining for 2 hours. It’s already reached Lansing and is heading east. More than a drizzle, but not a downpour.
