I daresay QB is in the right place. He’s been a breath of fresh air, but it is getting stale. He is being mis-used and was playing out of character (by his own choice).
The swing was inconsistent. Seemed to get longer in big situations and the roll-over ground ball was becoming too prevalent.
I think he will be good off the bench.
Let’s hope this gets Andy going.

Becoming quite a couch potato with the Olympics going on. Big game (for me and fellow Canadians set to begin now).
Kill some time before the Yankee game I guess!!!

Tigers have announced RHP Bruce Rondon’s contract is being transferred from Erie to Toledo.

September call up is the next step.

JV last 20.0 innings pitched
1-2, ERA 4.05, 16Ks
.
lets turn it around JV!

Nova’s past 5 games aren’t very good either tho

Let’s hope Ivan isn’t a super Nova tonight. I hope the Tigers can put some of his pitches into outer space. JV has to get straightened.

Jim doesn’t have to do an “either/or” with Berry, meaning that Q can hit 9th also. I like Dirks hitting second. It is very true that Berry isn’t doing the things than make him…well…..Berry. Whether that’s him or JL or a combination, no idea.

than= that. One wrong letter and the entire sentence is shot to hall.

Rich, IDK if I could trust a Dirks, Berry and AJ OF, defensively.

jk of course

bounce back game for JV against this talented Yanks lineup. Be nice to win this series

JV has clearly not been on the top of his game.
The 1st inning is such a big one for him. He gets that inning and the pitch count into his head.
You just can’t go wrong throwing strikes (except 0-2!) and Fister has been proving that.
Justin really needs to manage himself in the 6th and 7th innings better. If he runs into trouble , especially after being dominant, in those innings he reverts to adolescence and tries to hump it by everybody—come hell or high water. Really needs to mix in something off-speed when he starts to show his hand @100 mph.
I’m sure he knows this and has heard it before.

While JV’s era is still very good, he has been anything but dominate recently, but really at certain times this year. I certainly don’t count on him these days, it’s a crap shoot.

We knew JV would not repeat the type of year we witnessed in 2011 but he has reverted back to 2010 and being a thrower and not a pitcher. It seems like the A/S game was a jump start to his sub standard 2nd half this year. The Yanks will work JV on the pitch counts in the early innings and try to get their pitch vs his pitch. If JV can go (last) 7 IP tonight and keep the Tigs in the game, we could get a W to start the series. If he just wouldn’t be so obsessed with leading the league in K’s. Here’s hoping we can score some runs off Nova too!

yea – don’t try to be max, justin. :p

I think it would be unfair to expect JV to be what he was last year, but he’s been almost pedestrian as of late. He can and should do better than this.

JV, there you have a good start, 9 pitches in the 1st inn. Now lets see if they can grind out some AB’s vs. Nova.

So, good start and gotta keep it rolling. Gonna abe very difficult with all these quality LHB he has to face.

The Tigers did launch some rockets off Nova and then followed up with a really nice hits inning. JV looked serious tonight about doing a good job. His own error cost him a possible shutout. I am beginning to worry about over-working him. 130+ pitches is a bit risky. I’d like him to be around many years without any arm troubles.
