Friday: Tigers vs. Yankees

Alex Avila is available, as expected, but Jim Leyland said last night he wasn’t likely to start against lefty CC Sabathia. The fact that Omir Santos is starting in his place might be a little bit of a surprise, but keep in mind, Santos has seen more of Casey Crosby than either of the other catchers, having been teammates at Triple-A Toledo for the better part of two months.

As for the weather, it’s about as dreary as it gets for June 1, but it’s now dry. The forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of rain, and the radar looks like the rain should stay north and east.

Going to the game tonight and tomorrow. Truthfully I was hoping tonight would be postponed, cold and damp doesn’t make for a comfortable or fun night for baseball!

yea stay warm! And hopefully delmon and berry keeps with the warm bats too.

It will be interesting to see how this lineup operates. Only 4 longball threats, so they’ll have to do some things differently than usual. Gives the “too many sluggers” theory a test.
With as many tornadoes as we’re being peppered with in these parts this evening, dreary and dry would be good.

Stay safe Rich. I am sure this lineup CC is shaking in his boots with this lineup.

Peralta’s world does need to be rocked a bit IMO. It is possible that he is playing with an injury. Regardless,
Against CC Sabathia the Tigrs are expecting 3 lesserlights (rookies) to handle his offerings?
Worth, Santos, Berry?
I’m not sure I get Peralta getting THIS day off.
Crosby is likely going to get next to nothing in run support.

First of June and three of our starting ten have spent most of their time in Toledo and a fourth starter has been down there part of the time. Here’s hoping we can catch some Mud Hen magic in a bottle. The first key to a successful June will be to get healthy. We need Jackson, Dirks, and Fister back. The second key will be more improvement in their hitting from Avila, Boesch, Kelly, Peralta, Raburn, Santiago and Young. Brad Eldred finished May as #4 hitter in International League at .313 with 20 hrs and 58 rbis for the season. He only had a.250 ave with 7 hrs and 23 rbis in May. Does anyone know what Q, Berry hit at Toledo in May???. ANS. .243!!! It’s all about timing and performing when called upon. Kudos to Quentin. Be ready Brad you may get a second chance!!!!! The real moral to this post is it is good to have options in Toledo.

Jhnonny is 1 for 17 off CC

This Danny Worth is the same that was not better option than the optioned?

Cabrera = rally killer.

Casey Crosby = Andy Oliver

Can’t handle prime time.

Game over …. Who’s next to get a start?

Get Crosby out of there!……………….Too late. Game over?

They had his dad’s face all in the camera when the game started. Haven’t shown him since.

Well I called that (to my wife) GS by CG. I figured he would have to throw some cheese over the middle of the plate and so did Curtis.
Funny-this game of baseball isn’t it? We can’t ever seem to hit with the bases loaded but we don’t pitch that well then either.
Casey has been throwing strikes (that’s why they called him up) and then he can’t buy one.
Bob—I believe your are right.

Dirks to DL. Matt Young called up.
Fan tweeted Beck.
Other journalist confirming

Jason made a post above this one.

Oh, my. they just interviewed Casey’s parents. And, Jim throws him back out there again.
.

Thanks, I missed it. Still recovering from GS

Crosby had outings in ST that looked like that too. So, do we try to win this game or opt for pitcher development?

This team may not have enough oomph (at least currently) to get back in the game. Especially if they give up any more runs. I just don’t see it.
