Saturday: Tigers vs. Red Sox

No surprises in the Tigers lineup today. Andy Dirks gets the DH spot, as expected, while Ryan Raburn starts at second. As a result, the lineup alternates left- and right-handed hitters throughout.

The Red Sox lineup looks quite familiar.

  5. Delmon Young, LF

  7. Jhonny Peralta, SS
  8. Andy Dirks, DH
  9. Ryan Raburn, 2B

P: Doug Fister

RED SOX

  1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
  2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
  3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
  4. David Ortiz, DH

Looks good – the question is HOW IS BECKETTS THUMB? …what a defensive infield we have today :/ hope we can his with RISP today!

The righty lefty combo should challenge even a great pitcher like Beckett. I like the lineup top to bottom. I feel we’re better with the more Ab
‘s that Dirks can get. If we get to Beckett, I suspect we can hammer the suspect Beantown pen. Shame I couldn’t get a babysitter for the day or I’d be there. Let’s go Tigers.

Loyd MaClendon did his job.
Thay did show the replay so im not sure but the second baseman made Fister work in excess

Not sure what you mean El Tigre.
Can’t watch the game but am able to listent to most of it and follow on Gameday.
Wow–5 dingers off of Beckett!

Im watching the game on tv. They did not show the replay of Raburn handling Ortiz shot

A great game with nothing to celebrate if Fister go into DL

From the .700 OBP of Ajax to the great defense of Miguel. An infield hit for Young and 4 Hrs for Miguel and Prince.
Below cruising thru Bo Sox offensive core and making his case.

I thought maybe it was a Mister Fister blister. Was the injury caused by something Raburn did? I only have Gameday here today. Fox is showing Cardinals-Brewers in my area. MLB.com blackout.

No, Raburn was not related to the injury.
In the second inning when the game was 2-0 , a strong shot by Ortiz was unmanegeable for Raburn or anyone else. At first view I though it was mishandled so Fister needed an extra out. That was the reason of my comment
in the replay you can see it was a hit no one would have made out there.Sorry for that.
Yes, in tv looked like the problem was his side. it hapened two innings later.

They only showed the replay in the middle of the 7th inning

All indications said there was a problem with his side. Let’s hope for the best.

10-0 over Boston.
Below , I guess with the W. He entered with runner on base and the batter in 2-0.
Dotel and Coke did their work.
Benoit impersonated Valverde in a no save situation . He looked like he was 1-0 with a 10- 0 adavantage and two outs

They used a shift on Ortiz which put Raburn in short RF. Big Papi hit a sinking liner that Raburn just missed. As el Tigre says, no replay so we couldn’t see if it was a bad play or not. Sometimes those liners have overspin and you end up following the ball with your glove right into the ground. Fox was too busy showing Beckett in the clubhouse, since that was the current subject of conversation, regardless of what was going on in the field.
.
There’s plenty of time to evaluate Fister before his next start. Even a DL stint could be backdated to today. If there’s a good time for a starter to miss time, this is it.
.
Great start to the season. Couldn’t have asked for more.

Villareal called from Toledo. So Below star on friday?

Oh no Doug Fister to DL!

Will Below take Fister’s spot in the rotation? That guy Lannan that was rumored in a trade was sent to AAA by the Nats. Can the Tigers go with 2 LH rookies in the rotation?

didn’t smyly win the 5th starter job? if below starts its gunna feel like below won the job lol.

I had a costochondral (cartilage between the ribs) strain and it was the only injury that kept me out of action for any length of time. I was good to go after ten days. Granted, I wasn’t a pitcher but I could throw and swing a bat by then. Hopefully Doug will have a similar experience.
.
Often a reliever called into emergency action, such as Below today, will have no time to become nervous and will do well. Then there’s Smyly, who never seemed to consider he had a shot at making the team out of ST, and maybe put less pressure on himself. It will be interesting to see how both perform if called on to start later next week.
.
People calling for a Lannan trade should realize that he would come at a cost. The Nats aren’t anxious to trade him. I put trust in DD to make the correct call on the current situation.

Simply want to say your article is as astonishing. The clarity in your post is simply excellent and i could assume you are an expert on this subject. Fine with your permission let me to grab your feed to keep up to date with forthcoming post. Thanks a million and please keep up the rewarding work.
