YESSIR!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope everyone has a great time, stays safe and of course a Tigers victory!

As I do every year, I’ll put this in for Ernie, who is always with us.
.
For, lo, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of the singing of birds is come,
And the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.

Thanks, Rich. He’ll always be missed,

I started to cry during the video.

Wonder why Prince didn’t remove his cap?

My son called to thank me for convincing him to sign up for MLBtv.com. He hasn’t been able to watch a Tiger game in several years and loving the Tigers was something we were always able to share. He said hearing Rod and Mario was like heaven to his ears. Made him realize how much he missed them & watching the Tigers. Sometimes moms know what they are talking about!

Who would have said? Santiago and Jackson of all the lineup making Lester work a little and giving Justin a rest.

Bunt?

Doomsayers 1- Us , Tigers fans ,0.
Misplay. One walk with Ortiz. That is why he was CY and MVP.

Fielder needs to do an stament here.
3 intentional walks ( two in disguise) for Miguel

The 3 guys I am worried about this year, AJ, AV and JV(2).
AJ & AV had really nice games. Papa was due for a disappointment and let’s hope there isn’t too much more of this this year.
Tough break for us and for JV (1).

That is a real leadoff hitter.
Verlander overworking in the two first inning and from then on on automatic pilot.
Peralta who was quiet until yesterday is on hitting mode again.

Valverde will not be perfect this year…. not many are. The kids hit a good pitch for a triple. Valverde does need to give the catchers a chance by holding runners on a little.
Verlander, amazing for opening day. Looked great.
And if Austin Jackson swings like that this year…. look out. He looked great at the dish.
Thought Boesch was pressing a little.
As much money as Prince was paid, managers would still rather pitch to him than cabrera. Cabrera is that good.
Nice win, go Tigs!

Wow. AJ coming through in a clutch RBI situation is very encouraging.
The not so big bats came through today quite nicely.
Interesting that JL pinch ran for JP in the 9th. Has confidence in Worth–where would Danny have played? Short or 2nd?
JV is leading the league in “deserved” wins. Fabulous outing for him. all’s great when you win but Papa must be feeling a just a little low today after blowing the save.
Kudos to Prince for “Fielding” those low throws today. As well as the SacFly.

That was an excellent question about Worth. Worth is a natural SS but I bet he goes into the game at 2B and Santiago slides over to SS because Santiago is such a good fielding SS.

JL has a bit to be happy with today. It’s only one game but it shows the character that is necessary to wave the pennant at the end of the gig.

I just checked ,Fielder , 2011,against LHP: OPS: 822. RHP: 1046.
Miguel,LHP:990. RHP:1047.

Just got home from the game. Cold! Glad they won obviously felt bad for JV he was incredible.

All the managers will see what Valentine did today and do the same, if they hadn’t planned to do so already. It’s up to Prince to make it backfire on them. Only then will Prince=Victor. And don’t take that the wrong way, I’m glad Prince is here, but he’s up against Victor’s .394 RISP average last season. Some big flies will help make up the difference. He played a good game considering he had to feel a lot of pressure to make a good impression. That’s only human, and will go away soon.
I’m actually glad that Valverde’s streak ended now, and with us winning. Don’t want that in his head all year.
I don’t know many ways to say that Verlander is incredible. This is Koufax-like, considering the two eras these guys pitched in.
Good team effort today.

Good point Rich.

AJ and Peralta – two guys who I want to hit well this year. JV(1) pitched great, JV(2) got a blown save but (statistically – it was due) we won.

Like to see Prince make them pay like Victor did – but what can you do: he is not viktor. He will clear bases – he will run bases faster – he can play a defensive position — but he will not have the OBP.

Slugging pct will make up for that and I am not so sure the OBP will that far off.

yea that is what i am saying – his power makes up for it. So ACTUALLY the OBP of these two boys is kinda interesting because Prince’s OBP is higher than Victors because – i assume – he is intenionally walked alot. So prince’s 3 year OBP is like .410ish and victors is .380ish. However victors recent (3year rough avg) BA is like .320 and prince’s is roughly .285
