Boesch pulled out of the lineup. Supposedly today would be the day the Opening Day lineup would show up but …

Ex Tiger Larish released again

What is this talk/rumor that Boesch will go to the DL with this neck spasam??

Thankyou El Tigre Venezolano.

Dirks 417
Thomas 214.
He is out of options? That would matter if he had showed some upside.DFA and he could take the AAA assigment. He wont go anywhere if put on waivers.
Dirks has earned the job

Thomas just made a catch that nobody else on the roster would have, except possibly Jackson. Guess it comes down to whether they want offense or defense from that slot.
Santiago has made two errors today at 2ndbase. In Inge’s first game at 3rdbase following the Cabrera injury, he made a throwing error. So much for “playing these positions in their sleep.” How many reps did Ramon get at 2ndbase this spring?

Not many. Boesch may need to dumb down his batting practice swings. Twice now he seems to have hurt himself (minor mind you) in BP.

Maybe they need to get Brennan away from Miggy and Prince for BP.

It looks like the lack of work due to the injury is taking a toll

It appears that the rotation, once it settles in a couple weeks from now, will be Verlander/Smyly/Fister/Scherzer/Porcello. I like that alignment. It gives teams a different look everyday and, more importantly, should provide a more rested bullpen for Smyly’s and Scherzer’s starts.

good point!

Happy birthday to former Tiger, Rusty Staub, Le Grand Orange, a middle of the order presence for the Tigers back in the Fidrych years. He was a run producer…Leyland’s type of hitter.
Recent find on the website…Tigers have scanned copies of media guides going all the way back to 1961. Not a complete library yet, but fun to look back on. Here’s a trivia question from one of the guides: Name the Tiger who once worked in the offseason as a bodyguard for singer Tina Turner?

jeff weaver.

mike sweeney might have done a better job for her though…lol

sorry, Lance Parrish

I was thinking weaver from gerry springer show.

Yes…Lance Parrish. The only other Tiger who I remember as having an odd offseason job was Richie Hebner…working as a gravedigger.

Anyone get thr reason for several players wearing # 29 on their uniforms today?
Worth’s number.

April fool´s day prank?

My thought was a pre- or in- game word that he was not making the roster and Inge was….those few players making a statement on Worth being more deserving?
It should all be sorted out next 24/48 hours.

I did not see it but supposedly they were using a black band with # 15. So they are making fun of Babe

It’s possible Inge will l open season on DL, backdated to last Friday.Quoting Beck.
So the 15 days end on april the 13th. Meaning that Worth, Thomas and Dirks go north? One open spot. One spot that Smyly will take and the Inge´s spot. be continued

Inge is strangely silent.

FYI, FSD Detroit is replaying Verlander’s no-hitter against Toronto last yetar. OMG, what a game! It’s in the 7th inning right now.

yeah it’s a beaut!

On Brennan Boesch: “He said his [trapezius muscle] tightened up back there,” manager Jim Leyland said. “We just had it worked on and sent him to some massage place or something to get it worked out.”
Insert your own joke here. On second thought, don’t…….
On Brandon Inge: a lot of this stuff, or most of it, is not Brandon’s fault, but it sure gets tiresome having everything constantly revolve around him. It would have been better if JL/DD had just made it clear from the outset that Inge was on the team this year. The “he’s got to hit” thing wasn’t very succinct, and there are those who took that to mean he might be cut if he didn’t demonstrate some offense.

The problem is “gotta hit” is open to interpretation. “Brandon” says he is hitting the snot out of the ball and unfortunately it is right at somebody—–unfortunately again, it often has been to the shortstop with a man on first.
And “Brandon” also says he is hitting the ball so hard if he got it up in the air it would be way outta here. Unfortunately, JL is tending to agree with Brandon.
The truth is Brandon has always been a decent player who has had occasions of offensive success coupled with, at times, brilliant defense. He has built up a fan base, deservedly so, and done finew work in th ecommunity. He also knows who is buttering the bread and has received more loyalty from the team he plays for than he actually has given. IMO. A good guy, a decent ballplayer, but an aging veteran that this team cannot afford to carry.
