No Cabrera update yet

Word from the Tigers is that they’ll have an update when they have more information to relay. One would expect that to be sometime this morning. The team just took the field for workouts, with no sign of Cabrera in the Tigers clubhouse. That doesn’t necessarily signify anything either way: He could be getting treatment or follow-up exams somewhere, or he could just be recuperating.

Cabrera, as expected, is not in the starting lineup. Danny Worth is starting at third base.

talking about cutting positional players….an OPS of .637 in 31 plate appearances and an OPS of 680 in 38 appearances for Inge and Clete, respectively.

Maybe Inge can back up polanco at 3B in Philly…..

Please, no concussion.

I’m going to guess that his sunglasses would have absorbed much of the blow and it shouldn’t be a concussion situation. I hope. Even at best case scenario, it may take awhile to begin playing again with stitches in the face. You can’t bend over, etc, because it puts too much pressure on the wound. He’ll certainly have a battle scar.

yea good point rich. Cabby prolly will have to take a few days off even if it is just stitches.

According to Buster Olney’s Twitter account Cabrera has a small fracture under his right eye and has been told he will be out a couple weeks. Buster said he talked with Miggy but I’m not sure if it was in person or over the phone.

Also, I guess he needed 8 stitches.

so is that an orbital bone fracture? I just googled that….please don’t let it be that!

I saw a quote from Dombrowski that it’s a non-displaced orbital bone fracture and that his sunglasses saved him from further damage. Also saw a quote from Cabrera that he fully expects to play opening day and that his vision is fine.

OMG, how awful, but it could have been much worse. I guess we can at least be thankful for that.
