Monday: Tigers vs. Indians

As you can read below, Wilson Betemit isn’t ready yet. So Don Kelly gets another start at third base. Other Tigers are simply getting a day of rest, including Jhonny Peralta and Austin Jackson.

  1. Will Rhymes, 2B
  2. Don Kelly, 3B
  3. Delmon Young, LF
  4. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  5. Victor Martinez, DH
  6. Alex Avila, C
  7. Ryan Raburn, RF
  8. Ramon Santiago, SS
  9. Andy Dirks, CF

P: Doug Fister

  1. Kosuke Fukudome, RF
  2. Jason Kipnis, 2B
  3. Asdrubal Cabrera, SS
  4. Travis Hafner, DH
  5. Shelley Duncan, LF
  6. Lonnie Chisenhall, 3B
  7. Matt LaPorta, 1B
  8. Ezequiel Carrera, CF
  9. Lou Marson, C

P: Ubaldo Jimenez

Geez-A couple of powr capable switch hitters not being able to go is not a great thing..
Nice job by Raburn but I honestly don’t know where these offfical scoreres learned their “craft”. That’s a double and he took third on the throw. No way it is a triple.

I know it is already and old joke but Fister must be asking if is legal to score too many runs

Bad news about Wilson. Now, that’s a doggone shame if he can’t play. Plus, he hasn’t played in over a week now and probably getting rusty.

Kelly has done OK over at thrid but that is at least the 3rd time recently he has pulled Cabby off the bag. Fortuneately the throws have all been close and to the home plate side of the bag and resulted in a tag out.

I’m not sure Fister might not have won 25 games if he were with us the whole year.
He’s certainly throwing like a 20 game winner. He’s amazing really.
Great to see Alex get a couple of hits. That’s important. Need to delmon going too.

How can the 3B Detroit players miss Cabrera?

It looks a little long for a tune up. He is on the 100 mark

Watching Yankees – TB game. With BoSox- Os highlights. Bo Sox would be easier, they are playing in an awful way.

Old American saying: “be careful what you wish for.”

Is this the real Doug Fister? He’s been the perfect pitcher. Verlander is our ace but Fister has been our best starter. Unreal. What a 1-2 punch to look forward to for full seasons.
Cleveland didn’t get much with their trade deadline prize, Ubaldo. At least not this year. He beat us one game and that was only because they had a huge lead early. Porcello start, I think.
As it turns out, I’d love to see a 3-way wild card playoff only because it gives me an extra travel day. That would be Murphy’s law at it’s Murphy-est though, for that to happen. It would require two sweeps and 2 Tampa losses.

When the Indians traded for Jiminez, just about everyone was ready to give them the Central. How apparent is it now that we really made the better deal getting Fister? Go Tigers!
‘Minoring In Baseball’

Did not see the game, listened to the end of it in the car and sounds like we were just killing the ball all night. Fister has been worth his weight in gold, he must be liking this Tiger team.

Going to the game tonight, glad they are pushing for home field advantage and hope last night carries over to tonight, would love to see us hit a few homeruns in person. Also need the rain to hold off!

Have a good night. Enjoy the camaradarie. Maybe you might even get to see Miggy at 3rd!!!!

Good link Dan, thanks for that. Yep, a lot can be forgotten about off field life when on field goes so well. Had his year been sub par there would be a ton of speculation on that. Speaking of Miggy, I thought I had seen at one point that in September he was to appear in court but have not heard anything about that, so maybe it got pushed back?

I loved the link just for that picture of Porcello on top of Yuk – terrific!

That fella has a good blog over there. Informative and a lot of fun. He nailed it entirely on this one. I have my own opinion on the Cabrera issues which I’ll keep to myself. Suffice to say, it’s nothing near as dire as the media has made out at times. We live in a strange society these days……….
The great thing about Jason’s blog here is that he presents us with facts, not opinions. The opinions come from us. I like to form my own, present it here, and then maybe go read what the paid writers are opining. Many times I skip the latter altogether.

Really whoopt those Indians last night – hopefully they now can give up on catching the white sox (2 back from them). and it sure did feel nice to see those bats were still alive!

Yes, thank you Dan. Most people are judgemental. I’ve read horrible remarks about Miggy at several sites and blogs. The “holier than thou” cannot accept people are not perfect
The only disagreement I have with Rogo is the statement to the effect that we all make mistakes and eventually pay for it, especially the majority of them that don’t get caught. I stopped visiting some of thos blogs because of the self-rightious bigots who think they are perfect.

Today’s lineup looks pretty dang good – and Wilson is in there!! Other than that I’d like to see santiago in there, but that’s the only complaint.

Jackson CF, Betemit 3B, Young LF, Cabrera 1B, Martinez DH, Avila C, Ordonez RF, Peralta SS, Raburn 2B, (Scherzer P)

I like the lineup too!

My guess is that Betemit is hitting 2nd to get him more ABs. I wouldn’t take this as a pemanent switch, although I do like ’em lined up this way.

Interesting lineup and encouraging to see wilso in there. He is a guy that could be a sleeper in the playoffs. Actually, we have a few of those that might excel on the world stage.

What is also encouraging about the lineup is that JL is showing signs of flexibility and innovativeness. He is not simply plugging his fixations in to predescribed assignments. Good on him.
