Sunday night: Tigers vs. Red Sox

As mentioned earlier today, the infield looks a lot different for Game 2. No last-minute changes in addition to that, though.

Jose Valverde said he’s available for Game 2 after taking the loss in the opener. Leyland said Benoit and Purcey should be available as well. Of course, he’d probably prefer Verlander to eat up more innings than that. We’ll see.

As for the weather, well, it looks like nasty weather coming. Guessing they’ll wait for the storm to pass rather than risk losing Verlander and Beckett after an inning or two, but that might depend on how quickly this system goes through.

When is the Detroit Media going to wake up??? And call for Jim Leyland to be fired. What are they afraid of?

wow, lets bat Raburn in the 9th, leave your homerun threat over there. Didn’t see Francona do that, did you??

Well Francona is light years ahead of Leyland

psssh, raburn should bat in the 8 or 9 hole -

Well, he could have hit Santiago as a lefty for Raburn. I’m going to assume he would have hit Avila for Inge. Realistically, none of that would have worked but it was worth a try. In my mind, the game was lost when our 3-4-5 hitters went down 1-2-3 off Albers in the 8th. It’s just not a winning ballclub.

Getting tonight’s game on TV is a testament to the power of Red Sox Nation, IMO. Nobody would have done that just for us.

It was wrong to go with oliver in the first game.If the tonight game is rained out, Verlander will have to pitch on extended rest an he does not ike it. He moved Porcello but not Oliver. Good move again.
And Inge must be cut before Raburn. He has nothing left

And Valverde? He has been mismanaged. Now , even Benoit lokk safer than him. Jones alllowed too many runs but in the end he saved 300 games. If some people did not stand him , they were wrong. He did his job once and again. Valverde is no doing his because he is used too many time and then none for days

Wow, Miggs got to hit in the first, still averaging .463 and slugging over 700 for RISP.
Funny how the SOC keeps Avila now the order, never higher than 7 regardless of whose playing. Protecting his development is admirable, yet is happy to burn everyone else wasting the 3rd and even the 6th spot when Peralta isn’t in the lineup.

Avila, protecting his development? Remember who is watching every game from above. Papa Avila! I don’t disagree with protecting Alex. I just wonder if JL isn’t looking over his shoulder a bit.
