Friday: Tigers at Pirates

I’m a little late on the lineups, I know. You’ll see Jhonny Peralta and Brandon Inge both getting a game off. I talked with Inge this afternoon, and he’s been battling some sort of virus that has him dealing with headaches.

  1. Austin Jackson, CF
  2. Scott Sizemore, 2B
  3. Brennan Boesch, RF
  4. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  5. Victor Martinez, C
  6. Andy Dirks, LF
  7. Don Kelly, 3B
  8. Ramon Santiago, SS
  9. Brad Penny, P

  1. Andrew McCutchen, CF
  2. Jose Tabata, LF
  3. Garrett Jones, RF
  4. Neil Walker, 2B
  5. Lyle Overbay, 1B
  6. Ryan Doumit, C
  7. Brandon Wood, 3B
  8. Ronny Cedeno, SS
  9. Jeff Karstens, P

Hope Brandon feels better soon, that’s no fun. Glad to see the hitting left off where it did last night, NOWHERE so far. I will give them one time through the batting order!

Actually Brandon has had a touch of parainfluenza longbalitis for a number of years now.
So far our hitters are looking like we expect them to look.

220 and batting second? Sizemore to aaa . Calll Worth or make a deal

This is pretty feeble stuff though our first 4 ABs
How many YEARS do we have to suffer throughteam wide batting slumps?
We have seen Lloyd a few times so far today. That may be part and parcel of this ongoing problem.

It’s going to sound like something made up on the fly, but this very much has the feel of a trap series. Pirates come back home after sweeping the Reds. Tigers stop in after two tough losses at Boston and are in danger of looking ahead to long homestand next week. Do not take Pirates lightly.

Penny on the ropes and unlike our offense, Pirates took advantage. Sigh.

This is the best Pirates team in years. Plus, they have a new manager. They are playiing much better ball than they have in years. Like I said earlier, I hope we can win at least 1.

Well it’s about time after three hits and two walks somebody walks out to the mound, if for nothing else than to give him a breather. Penny can’t throw strikes and the way the hitters look tonight it might be one run too many! Cy Karstens on the mound ya know?

I agree Jason!

Sniffing a no hitter here??

There goes the no hitter!

Good teams take advantage of what they are given. We have been offgered 2 gifts the last 2 inning. The Bucs only scored 1 in the 4th (they could have really created some damage with the way Penny was throwing) and they got 2 rabbits on in the 5th only to have the ump give Penny 2 strikes against Jones that were balls.
Good teams take advantage of the fact the other guys didn’t score 2 or 3 runs there.

The shadow makes it even. Penny lasts one more, then what?? Try Perry hopefully for 2 innings? Benoit the 7th?

Brennan and the big uppercut swinging is killing his BA

Well that happiness lasted a whole 3 minutes! Penny is not having a great night and is lucky to have only given up 2 runs!

Fast (or slowly??) heading to Thomas.

Well Scott for the couple really nice plays you made in Boston, you sure botched that one and cost this team a run! Swell!

Amazing – Penny could throw more balls than strikes.

Missed that one. DP botched?
Not many cylinders firing for the Tigers tonight. They do not look like a very good ball team. I remember when we feasted on interleague play.

The wheels have come off for the bullpen again.
All-Around Pathetic.

Ciao Baby. No point watching this garbage.

Well nice! Botched double play, and frankly Villareal was screwed out of a strikeout and wham 6 runs score with 2 outs! What a waste of freaking time? Now I’m glad I don’t have to watch this pathetic display tomorrow, and definitely not wasting my time going to Pittsburg on Sunday. Not worth my time or $100 in gas!

The bullpen is officially crisis time. Only two come from behind wins all season with one needing a 7 run buffer.
Should see how Benoit pitches with less pressure.

Clint Hurdle benched McCutchen (sp?) for not hustling about a week or so ago. Can you imagine?

Botched double play, and a strikeout that Villareal not getting the strikeout he earned, and WHAM 5 earned runs just like that with 2 outs. What a freaking embarrassment! Glad the game won’t be televised tomorrow and certainly not wasting my time going to Pittsburg!

Guillen hopes to be begin playing in the minors in 15 days. 4 weeks more or less of recovery to addapt to pitching again. No timetable to be back in Detroit. in second base, as soon as his legs dont fail him.én:-En-dos-semanas-espero-poder-jugar-en-las-menores-

Having trouble with this site tonight. What I have wanted to say for. Few innings now is that a botched double play and a strikeout that Villareal earned, and WHAM 5 runs score just like that.
Decided I am glad that they aren’t going to be on tv tomorrow night and was planning on going to Pittsburg on Sunday but really isn’t worth my time or money

No mention of Sizemore throwing away an inning ending DP relay that was followed by six Pittsburgh runs? That was the entire ballgame on that one play. We sure are playing a lot of Mudhens. If you can’t hit, you certainly must play solid defense.

Thanks for the link, jkl.

Your welcome

Well, we won’t have to watch tomorrow. And, that’s a relief.

Trap series??? Please…..

This team stinks.

Have said all along they are .500 at best….

sick of the Detroit media PANZIES

Having problems posting last night, but I just want to reiterate what a couple of others said. A botched double play and a hitter that Villareal did strike out and wham 5 runs, that basically blew this game.
Glad that I can’t watch this product tomorrow night, and was going to go to Pittsburg on Sunday but we have decided that we are not going to waste our time or money.
