Tuesday: Tigers vs. Blue Jays

Andy Dirks is back in the lineup for the Tabbies against Jays right-hander Jesse Litsch, who’s allowing a .344 average to left-handed hitters so far this season. In fact, 13 of the 14 extra-base hits Litsch has allowed have come from the left side. Not coincidentally, three of the top five hitters in Detroit’s batting order are left-handed batters.  The exceptions are Austin Jackson and Miguel Cabrera.

  1. Austin Jackson, CF
  2. Andy Dirks, LF
  3. Brennan Boesch, RF
  4. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  5. Victor Martinez, DH
  6. Jhonny Peralta, SS
  7. Alex Avila, C
  8. Scott Sizemore, 2B
  9. Brandon Inge, 3B
P: Rick Porcello

  1. Yunel Escobar, SS
  2. Corey Patterson, LF
  3. Jose Bautista, RF
  4. Edwin Encarnacion, 1B
  5. Aaron Hill, 2B
  6. J.P. Arencibia, C
  7. Eric Thames, DH
  8. Jayson Nix, 3B
  9. Rajai Davis, CF
P: Jesse Litsch

I like this lineup, especially the outfield. Hoping Dirks has a good night at the plate and builds off last night. Hopefully having these 3 “table setters”, as Rod Allen calls them, in front of Cabby gets him and V-Mart a look at some decent pitches. I also think Sizemore is better off at this point hitting further down instead of in the 2 hole.

That would be DETROIT”S line up – not Toronto’s Beck – did you forget who you write for!? Do you have someone proof-read your articles…

and its only 3 of the top 5. Last time i checked AJax was a righty.

Give Jason a break. This isn’t an article … it’s a blog. And with blogs, you have typo and errors.
I knew what you meant Jason and I am sure most of the regular visitors to this blog did as well.
I am thankful Jason gives us this avenue to read and share thoughts of our boys of summer.
Need the split tonight.

Go Tigers.

My thoughts exactly, Bob.

Bob –

Really? Give him a break because it’s a blog – if he wants to be a reporter it SHOULD BE AT LEAST PROOFREAD. Typos and errors are one thing, getting the team you are writing for wrong is unaceptable. And he does this a lot more than just this one blog.

Maybe you should proofread your own posts before you call out somebody else.

Get over yourself Jeff.
Jason thank you so much for al you do we really all appreciate having your insight and having a forum to chat with fellow Tiger fans. It has always been a nice place to come to chat withlout judgement.
Don’t pay attention to the rude idiots.

That’s “all” you do. Don’t want Jeff on my case.

Sorry about that. Scrambled to get out the blog post before I went downstairs. Next time I’ll wait until 6:45.

Jason your fine

Somebody should consider decaf.

With lefties hitting him so well, why not give Santiago another start, maybe at 3B. Give Inge a night off. Or Don Kelly at 3B and Santiago at 2B?

Go Tigers

Had the same thought. Kelly and Santiago are hardly MVP candidates, but if they guy is that bad against lefties, load up. Sizemore’s playing well, but it’s not like he’s locked in like Peralta right now. And Inge has been struggling so much even Kelly’s BA is an improvement. Then your only right-handers are the red hot Peralta, MVP Cabrera, and Ajax.

Yeesh, whatever happened to good manners? A simple rule of thumb: if you wouldn’t say it to the person’s face, don’t say it here. Jason Beck happens to be among the best beat writers at MLB.com, and I have that on good authority.

Wanted to touch on the Bautista thing one last time.
Only 2 players in MLB history have hit 50 homeruns in a season after age 29 with out hitting at least 20 in a season earlier in their career. Baustista and Luis Gonzalez. And Gonzalez is a known roid user.

Looks like rain coming from the east. I wonder if they will get this game in.

The radar doesn’t look good, I have a hard time believing they can get this in, but I have been wrong before.
Regarding the lineup, I agree if he is that poor against lefties why not get a few more in there? Especially since the 2 I am thinking of you don’t lose anything offensively?

Geez it’s 9:00 just cancel this thing already! There are about 6 dates throughout the summer where we share common days off. You definitely don’t want go have to play a surging Boston on 2 hours sleep!
