Saturday: Tigers vs. Twins

Ramon Santiago is at second base for what could be Jeremy Bonderman’s final start in Detroit as a Tiger, but manager Jim Leyland says it isn’t any reaction to the miscues at second base from Scott Sizemore (not an error) and Will Rhymes (was an error) last night. Rather, Santiago is 3-for-7 lifetime off Carl Pavano. Thus, Santiago gets his first start since Monday and just his fourth start in the last 19 days.

PUP asked on the previous thread about Peralta’s error and if I remember correctly (I am so sick today) it was a pretty tough error. He actually made a nice play but the throw was off a bit. Now regarding the game it was a great last game to go to obviously. Lots of runs – JV was on fire and if it weren’t for an error and a cheap single he would of had his second 9 inning shutout in a row. Oh well. Never felt in danger of losing even in the begining when it was close. Pitching duels can be fun for different reasons, but I don’t like the stress, I like laughers in my teams favor!! HA HA HA

I do hope this is Bondo’s last game as a Tiger.
.
Sorry JB but you had some bad breaks. That does not mean Tiger fans and players have to pay the price. He’s pretty much finished with his 85 MPH fastball and lack of changeup.
.
The only way he can win is if the ump is generous and he has his slider working and his “medium” ball on the corners.

Be cool to throw JV for a third of an inning for a WIN!

Inge is havin’ a rough one tonight.
.
No room on my tema for Bonine. There is one thing to be said for pitching to contact but he is Just too hittable.

No room on my team for Bonine either. There is one thing to be said for pitching to contact but he is just too hittable.

One of the things that irritates me the most about JL is when he pinch hits for the guys that have had good nights. First Kelly, now Avila??

Oh boy–here comes Coke.
.
He better get Span because there are 2 pretty strong RHB after Span and Hudson

I like my rum but I’ll hve it with Pepsi please.
.
I am not a Coke fan.

Dodged a bullet there. Sizemore came in cold and I half expected a bit of trouble on the DP ball.
.
Peralta is very smoot at short. Most of his throws are high too, that is not a bad idea with Cab over there.

smooth—not smoot

Well–Coke did a good job. Other than the 0-2 to Span.
.
Boesch-Inge-Laird. Ooooh—3 possible Ks. I fear we may have to use Valverde tonight.

Darn—The D kinda let down that 13th inning.
Cab not scooping the low throw–Laird double clutching—-Span was dead with a proper throw

Wow—heckuva job by Daniel.
.
I think he reminds me a little of John Hiller! (Remember Ratso?)

Can Boesch DO “some”thing? Please?

Thank you Twins. Boesch again comes up with a most horrible AB—they should have had a home to 1st DP on that comebacker. And Valencia, my goodness, we caught a couple of breaks and Brandon DIDN’T strike out!

:>) !!!!!

Hey, if that game had meant more in the standings, it would have been another classic. And it would have been a real nailbiter. We’re 8-9 against one of the best teams in baseball. Are the Tigers the only team that can play them tough? Not bad, on top of taking the season series from Chicago. Why are we in 3rd place? And yes, that’s a rhetorical question.
.
With 79 wins, we’d have to go 1-7 to finish below .500. That’s still do-able with this team’s history, but looking doubtful now.
.
A lot of guys had good nights tonight, on both sides. We’re getting some good ideas of who has an upside and who doesn’t.
.
To answer a question featured on the pregame show, would I root for the Twins in the postseason? You betcha. I hope they go all the way to game 7 of the WS. That would be sometime in November, right?

Not a nailbiter? Whoa. Although the world didn’t turn on the outcome, it drove me nuts. Just didn’t want to lose one and they truly ground it out.
.
Will be at work today, so will catch up duriing lunch and hope for a glorious end to the homestand. Hope there is a good crowd for final home game.
.
Wish Magglio would peek out of the dugout so we could at least see him in the Ol English D.
