Monday: Tigers vs. White Sox

First the injury roundup: Ryan Raburn is not in the lineup today, but he said he’s feeling much better after coming down with what he suspects was food poisoning Sunday morning. He said the illness finally lifted overnight. Gerald Laird is not available; his back is still out of alignment. He’s hoping to be back to play against White Sox lefty John Danks Wednesday night.

Other than that, it’s a pretty standard lineup. Note that Scott Sizemore is NOT available today. He is indeed being called up, as reported last night, but the move won’t be official until tomorrow.

Ohmigosh. Is Leyland even serious?
What kind of lineup is that? Kelly batting 5th and “protecting” Cabrera?
What is the point of batting Damon 3rd if the idea is that AJ and Rhymes can get on base—-he can’t hit with men on base. How many times do we see him swinging wildly standing on his front foot today? I swear the guy reserves his worst swing to punctuate strike 3
This is really a poor lineup and one that will have Ozzie Guillen both drooling over and laughing derisively. I have a feeling this will be a tough game to watch.
It’s bad enough we don’t give Scherzer runs but how can you expect to do much with the bottom part of this lineup?

Kelly has been swinging well lately, better than Boesch, Damon, Avila, Inge…so I can understand him hitting 5th today. Why JL would rest Peralta on a day that Raburn is still out is beyond me. How about giving Peralta the day off tomorrow when you can play Raburn and/or Sizemore?
Damon better not get any more than 5-10 starts the rest of the season. We need to get at bats for the young guys or at least guys that might actually be back next year.
