Tuesday: Tigers at Twins

Good to be back on the beat in Minnesota, where the air is sticky tonight and the clouds are threatening but the worst weather so far is staying to the south and east. Should be able to get in tonight’s game on time.

Tigers still don’t have Gerald Laird available, but he’s feeling pretty good and hopes to be back tomorrow for lefty Francisco Liriano. Alex Avila gets his fourth straight start behind the plate.

Will is a nice ballplayer. But I would suspect 2B will be appointed to Sizemore again. Unless they try to move him to the left side of the infield.

This 5th inning will the the crucial one for GMan.

2 good plays in that inning by Rhymes to save Galarraga. I hope he does get a shot at the job next season. To me he’s the kind of guy good teams are built around. Not flashy but solid defense and a scrappy hitter looking to do whatever it takes to get on base or move the runner up. Leyland loves the big homerun hitters but this team needs more players like Rhymes to set the table for Cabrera etc.
