Wednesday: Tigers vs. Rays

Should be an interesting matchup between the Tigers and Matt Garza today. Will Garza go after the Tigers with high fastballs again until Detroit adjusts, or will Garza throw something different at them? How much of a difference will Peralta (9-for-19 lifetime off Garza) make? Can Miguel Cabrera snap out of his forgettable homestand?

How long until it starts raining?

Can this blog get the time stamps correct? This has been a problem for almost two years now. Cmon.

Can we trade for Jhonson ?
How a 193 can have 5 walk one after another from 4 different pitchers including the Ace and the second starter

Detroit version of Van Der Meer alert. 10 inn of no hit until now

I am an unabashed Justin Verlander fan. But cripes, this guy shoots himself in the foot almost every game in the 1st inning or 2. So many pitches, so many foul balls, so many walks.
Meanwhile we like to hack away at the 1st pitch.
JV has struggled through the 1st 2 now–hopefully he can repeat his pattern of getting better in the middle innings and find a way to make it to the 7th.

Leadoff double but there is no one after MCab that even has a hope of driving a run in right now.
How long will JL let his golden boy brandon go O’fer?

Wow–Brandon gets a hit and an important RBI. He’ll be in the lineup for the rest of August now.
Surprised one of either Avila, Santiago or Kelly are not in the lineup.

I sure don’t agree with JL and how he uses AJ on the bases. The guy gets on and instead of trying to get him to 2nd by letting him steal, Damon goes after the very 1st pitch.
If Damon gets him to 2nd then maybe we have another run right now.
Garza got out of huge trouble there with a 2-0 count and the bases full.
This is the inning to be very careful as the Rays may feel that they just got back in the game with that moral victory.
JV seems to picking up steam now so hopefully he can hold them down. How many shutouts does our staff have?

It’s been raining since noon here in mid-Michigan. And it’s still raining 3 hours later. If the rain hits Detroit, you’re gonna have a long rain delay.

Looks like JV is gonna struggle with the light hitters today.

After leaving bases full again it is quite apparent that this team does not have the necessary confidence to drive in runs. I don’t know haw many men left on today but it’s a lot.
I repeat the post above–the Rays are sooner or later gonna taked advantage of all the missed opportunities.
No sooner said than done!

Wasted opportunity after opportunity and wham the Rays take advantage of a lead off triple. We could easily have two or three more runs right now. And while I think that JV is a good pitcher he has a lot to learn about managing pitch counts so he can go deeper into games. They foul everything off and it really get obnoxious.
Tie game – yippie

This team seems to be in a self destruct mode. The hitters are demoralizing the starters, the relievers are demoralizing the hitters and the manager is demoralizing the fans.
Really gutsy play by Boesch and absolutely the right decision at the time with Verlander struggling to keep things in check.
I was thinking that it might take a shutout to win this game. I still think so.
Let’s face it, Thomas and Weinhardt don’t exactly give us better than a 50/50 chance.

I think that Ryan Raburn getting more AB’s lately he is starting to find that swing that he had last year. Here’s hoping. Way to to Ryan.

Ok Perry coming in I will keep my fingers crossed this could go either way.

Ok Perry coming in I will keep my fingers crossed this could go either way.

great lead off walk to a guy hitting below 200 – come on Perry don’t walk this other guy hitting below 200

Whew!!!! I wasn’t sure at first that they got Zobrist on the double play – but I’ll take it.

That’s one of the reasons I like Raburn at 3rd. When you need a dinger he can actually hit the ball over the fence.
Inge may not hit another HR this year.

Boy the Tigers sure make Chad Qualls’s and his nearly 8 era look pretty good don’t they????

Are they playing with fire by leaving Perry in for another inning/??

Boy he is squeezing Valverde – Upton shouldn’t have walked. Love umps

Here we go stolen base and a wild throw to 2nd.

Valverde was squeezed in the Jaso AB and now in the Johnson AB he is getting squeezed. I love umps

Doesn’t matter – Jose did it!!!!!
