Tuesday: Tigers vs. Rays

This should be an interesting matchup. The Tigers haven’t seen Rays fill-in starter/top starting prospect Jeremy Hellickson before, but they have a matchup against the Twins and some footage from Triple-A Durham to watch on video.
It’s now becoming apparent that Jim Leyland is going to stick with Brennan Boesch in the third spot for a while and see how he responds. Dave Dombrowski was on MLB Network Radio this afternoon and he mentioned the adjustments Boesch has made to counter the adjustments pitchers made against him.

No hitting, no rallies. Miggy slumping. Making the other guy look like Cy Young. Sloppy play in the field. Good starting pitching (except the dreaded leadoff walks) by us gone to waste. Ou starter deserved better. Yada, yada, yada.
We’ve seen this movie before.
Who’s the director?

Oh I forgot the part about our late inning guy not keeping the bad guys off the scoreboard.

I’m thinking Johnny Damon would like to fall on a sword.

Hi Friends,
I haven’t posted in awhile, because there isn’t much to say. The team is playing awful- our starting pitching is pitching well enough to win most nights and they get no support whatsoever. The worst part is, Leyland is back next year. It’s not all his fault- but we are an above average team playing far below our potential and someone needs to be responsible.
I think I picked a good year to give up my season tix.

The last remaining excuse is Ordonez. These injuries have provided job security for Leyland.. Tiger management prefers to behave like an ostrich and are using the injuries to camoflauge the obvious: that Jim Leyland is not a winning manager.
Tiger fans think there is nothing they can do but sit back and take it.
Well sit back but don’t do it in the seats at Comerica. Do it at home, in your yard, turn on the radio and don’t even let MLB and theteam grab the TV revenue.
If the fans start to stay away from the park, or send in their reasons in the comment section of their season ticket renewals, I guarantee something would change.

Does anyone think DD or Illitch read these comments or even hear about them? All we are doing is crying on each other’s shoulders. When I watch the game on MLB.com, even the fans in the stands look bored. What is that old kid’s rhyme? Call the doctor, call the nurse, call a Buck Showalter clone and send JL home in an alligator purse.

I highly doubt either bother with the reading this BLOG, however, this BLOG does reflect fan sentiment, and that they are acutely aware of.
Boy-is it ever time for some significant changes to the team. Regulars like Inge, Guillen, Laird, Damon, Bonderman need to be gone.
Ordonez is kept only if he is willing to DH. Raburn has to be given a job or he goes too. He simply can’t play part-time. Perry has good trade value.
Down on the farm, Schlereth is pitching very well—-and throwing strikes. Wells is as ready as ever will be, Strieby is either make it or break it, Sizemore wil be GIVEN the 2B job again next year, Rhymes will be cut loose, Dlugach is done, they will have to look at Furbush, Casey Fien has had one of the craziest years of any AAA/MLB player i have ever seen, Figaro is trade bait, Sborz won’t cut it, Worth is waiting for the jury to deliberate.
In other words-there’s not much help on the farm.
DD will have to be willing to do some free agent transactions.
Don Kelly has played admirably well in the field and has shown value as a very nice utility player. But how many can a team carry on the bench? 3 is too many. You need power on the bench and someone that can ignite your team offensively when called upon to play regularly. Not bide time.
How have the “Talk Shows” been treating Leyland lately?

After the Rays scored their first run I knew where this was headed and switched to TCM and watched Show Boat! Hey, at least the old movies have happy endings!

I wish that JL & DD would read this blog. I doubt it though.
Looking forward to seeing this “wonderful” team that DD will throw out next year. I am tired of hearing about how wasted money will come off the books & the Tigers will be able to go out and get some good players to fill the gaps. I don’t hold much faith that they will get the right guys.
Other than Miggy, JV, Max, Porcello, Coke, Valverde, AJax & Boesch I don’t care who goes. Although I would be open to Maggs as DH.
I have a daughter in Chicago who is actually going to show up at a Tiger / Sox game this weekend wearing Tiger gear. Brave girl. : )

I often read the MLB trade rumor website. I hardly ever see mention of Brandon Inge or Carlos guillen.
Does this mean Jim Leyland and David Dombrowski are the only ones interested?
