Cabrera scratched from Tigers lineup

Apparently Cabrera came down with back tightness during batting practice or early work. He was in the original lineup, so something happened. The resulting ripple effect shifts Ramon Santiago to the second spot, Johnny Damon to third and Magglio Ordonez at cleanup. Don Kelly gets the start at first base and bats ninth.

Why not Raburn in first and batting in the 4th spot? JL does not like to mess with the batting order

Oh, for chissakes, that’s all we need:(

A sick Miggy.

Have to give Damon big time credit for that gutted out walk resulting in a run of Boesch. Damon has gone .239 since April and surely can’t keep struggling. Then again, JL can’t surely keep playing him anywhere but leadof.
.
Good to see Robbie Weinhardt successfully back after a 5 week injury layof pitching 2.1 scoreless innings for one hit 2 SO’s and no walks.
He has impressive figures with ERA’s of 1.76 and 1.57 in 08 & 09. His current 2.15 from 29IP with 22 SO’s and only 6 walks. He is a miserly .136 against righties.

Amazing how Inges field speed and great reflexes doesn’t help his base stealing, now caught stealing 7 times with only 2 SB’s the past two seasons.

why not let Scherzer finish the game ,save the bullpen, stopped trying to figure Leyland ‘s move, pitch count wasn’t that high.

Miggy who?

Go Rays!

Go Damon, and with a runner on!! Definitely wont go another 130+ between drinks.

With the greenest looking pen for some time, thought is was an ideal situation to use either Fien or Schlereth and save Coke.

I agree Dave. Good time to throw Schlereth in there. I suppose JL wanted to send a message of confidence to Coke.
.
Boesch has been amazing. He is hitting .340 now which is what Mr Tiger hit when he won the AL batting title in 1955.
.
To put his year in perspective. Kaline had 27 homers and 102 RBIs in 588 ABs that year. If Boesch projects the same from here on out (which he won’t) he’ll have 32 homers and 125 RBIs. Kinda tells you how productive he’s been don’t it?
.
Scherzer has transformed himself. He’s having back to back to back good outings and his intelligence serves his “stuff” very well.
.
AJ is gonna hit his 2nd HR this series.
.
We need Raburn to step in and hit the ball against Cliff Lee. Lucky Laird gets to face him too.
.
nice to see a good ggame for us.

Scherzer making the change in his delivery to gain 4-5 mph on his fastball has made his offspeed stuff even better.
.
Boesch must be seeing the ball a lot better in leftfield in the home park. He seems to be getting a good jump on the ball. He seems to have trouble in some of the away parks and plays more tenative. You gotta love his hustle and all out effort. I want to see him go long against Lee.
.. Mark

I assumed JL used Coke to get him some work. He hasn’t pitched since Monday and, with Verlander going tonight, might not be needed tonight either. Of course, that doesn’t seem to be the case with Bonine, who hasn’t pitched in eight days. The middle relief guys don’t need work, I guess? One of those funny baseball things. Re Schlereth, why let the Mariners see him in a 7-1 game?
.
I didn’t see all of the game, looking at selected innings on DVR, but Scherzer was making it look easy. With our bullpen not as strong as it was a month ago, it’s imperative that starters go deep into games.
