Tuesday: Tigers at Phillies

Running a little late here thanks to the drive (had to buy batteries for the recorder along the way) and talking with Dave Dombrowski earlier, but here are the lineups. Reminder that the game is on MLB.TV and MLB Network today, so you can have a look at Justin Verlander and Austin Jackson, who had Monday’s game off.

Odd quirk today: The Tigers got permission from the Phillies to use the DH, but the Phillies aren’t going to use one.

More stellar pitching performances today. Not providing a lot of confidence for the summer?????
.
I asked this yesterday, but I noticed that Raburn hasn’t been in the last three games? Whats up with that does anyone know?? JASON

I think Leland is just taking long looks at the other players who might make the roster. Other than that, this game has been awful. Getting our butt’s kicked by the Phillies.

I didn’t get the game here, but the box score doesn’t look pretty. Non-existent hitting, pitching other than Valverde has been horrible. Almost none of these pitchers are making me believe that it is going to be okay. I mean when poor Dontrelle and Nate Robertston have been the best throughout camp. WELL – do I need to say anymore. Not real excited so far.

Well, I certainly can’t agree with you on the pitching. Verlander, Porcello and Scherzer in his last performance have been outstanding. We’ll see how it all works out in about a week or so.

Verlander isn’t going to be perfect every game. His ERA looks high because he has only been pitching 2-3-4 innings and any runs given up will inflate that ERA. I hope they don’t have to play the Phillies in the regular season. I’m not sure they have had a good game against the Phillies this spring.

Your right Porcello has been great. But in general our pitching has been poor and if you compare the numbers to that of the other teams we are at the bottom (and yes I know this is spring training the other teams are in spring training too and their numbers aren’t that bad) And Verlanders last two outing haven’t been all that spectacular. All and all I think that it hasn’t been good in the pitching department, the numbers don’t lie.
