30 clubs in 30 days, first team

Heads-up for those of you who get MLB Network (which, unfortunately for me, does not include my hotel): The Tigers will be first up on their 30 Clubs in 30 Days series, with an hour-long feature airing Wednesday, March 3 at 5 p.m. ET. Peter Gammons and Hazel Mae were in Lakeland the last couple days doing interviews and compiling info for the show, which will include field reports, predictions, fantasy stats, a look at the farm system, a recap of the 2009 season (sorry to open up that wound again), an all-time homegrown Tigers roster, and a Prime 9 countdown of the top plays in club history.

Seay starts throwing again

A little more than a week after Bobby Seay was shut down from throwing with bursitis around his left biceps, hes back throwing. He played catch Tuesday morning and felt fine, according to manager Jim Leyland.

Tigers finish up signings

The entire Tigers 40-man roster is now under contract. Detroit agreed to terms with the final eight players they had yet to sign, including Alfredo Figaro, Armando Galarraga, Ryan Perry, Fu-Te Ni, Daniel Schlereth, Don Kelly, Ryan Raburn and Clete Thomas. None of them were eligible for arbitration, so it was just a matter of agreeing to terms. The deadline was approaching for the Tigers to either agree to terms or simply renew them.

Spring opener: Sizemore sitting

The skies have cleared after an early-morning downpour here in Lakeland, so it looks like it’s game on for the Tigers’ Spring Training opener against Florida Southern. But the field is probably still wet enough — with the chance for more rain later today — that the Tigers are going to play it cautious with second baseman Scott Sizemore and his surgically repaired ankle.

Sizemore said his ankle is getting stronger, but admitted it was a little tender a couple days ago. Still, he said, it’s building in the right direction. It would be a surprise if he wasn’t in the lineup in the next few days.

Here’s the Tigers lineup:

  1. Jackson, CF
  2. Damon, LF
  3. Ordonez, RF
  4. Cabrera, 1B
  5. Guillen, DH
  6. Kelly, 3B
  7. Laird, C
  8. Santiago, 2B
  9. Everett, SS
