Minor league managerial search continues
The Tigers won’t just be looking for players at the upcoming winter meetings. They could well be looking for a Double-A manager as well.
Detroit’s search for a replacement for Tom Brookens has extended a little longer than many would’ve expected since Brookens was hired in October. No deal is close, and at this point, the Tigers appear willing to look at people from outside the organization.
It deserves mentioning that the Double-A coaching staff is vitually important. It’s a huge step in the developmental ladder for players coming through the farm system, and with the prospects on track to come through Erie in the next couple years, it’s vital. The Tigers have had good people in that regard with Brookens for the last couple years and Matt Walbeck before him.

I’m still traveling and only have time to pick up the barest facts, and I don’t like what I’m seeing.

To be brief, not offering Polanco arbitration was dumb. I don’t care how it’s spun, it’s stupid to let your best player walk away with nothing in return. At the very least, Polly could have been a trading chip at next season’s trade deadline.

The talk of Crosby is laughable.

The continuing insistence that Santiago can’t play everyday makes me sick. That’s an unfounded invention of DD and JL. Ramon finishes every season strong, but the dynamic duo probably chalk that up to their “expert” handling of him.

Considering the personnel we have on the roster today coupled with Leyland in charge, and we have a last place club at this point in time. There’s no doubt in my mind. I”m not going to waste my time on a team that finishes last in 2 of 3 seasons.
