Carrasco was also more effective against lefties at AAA (2.23 ERA Vs 3.67; .17 Avg Vs .21 and GO/FO 1.13 Vs 0.63) so interesting the lineup JL has chosen with Ramon and Huff.
Sure nice to have nearly everyone getting back some offensive form at the right time.
This could be a difficult game for the guys to mentally get up for knowing the big series are coming.

My guess is that the standings at the conclusion of tonight’s game will still be the same on Monday, so we’d best be mentally up. Big difference between a 2 and 3 game lead going into the big series next week.

If JV wants to be known as the BMOC this is where he needs to step up. It’s one thing to beat the lesser knowns and its quite another to step up in crunch time. He had a decent outing last week until the 8th. I need him to bear down and really deliver tonight.

These games where you can’t lose on paper…..
They didn’t want us to feel comfortable 2 days in a row!!

All-mighty, all-righty Carlos Guillen. Way to go, Carlos.

Big win. Rodney does not make it easy.

Always had a feeling this was not going to be easy, but a win is a win. Just a shame it burned a few arms in the process and Seay’s confidence continues it’s downward spiral.
I suppose to Rodney it is just another routine save – thank goodness Inge got the liner or we could have been toast.
Any reason Jason why the final game was tonight? Any late travel between cities is tough to back up the following night.

Man, that was “closer” than it needed to be. Nice play by Inge.
The bats are coming alive, some good ABs in this series. Big steal and hit from Santiago and Polanco. Guillen has made a huge difference this week.
That play Polanco made in the 7th was something. Looked to me like he could have stepped up and grabbed the liner, but he stayed back, froze the runner, took the short hop and turned an inning ending DP. Smart.
Not overly happy with the bullpen tonight. They need to find out what’s wrong with Seay. I can understand using him for the two lefties, but again I think it’s better to just bring in Lyon to start the 8th. Brandon has to keep cleaning up Bobby’s mess and ends up pitching the entire inning anyway. Seay needs to get straight and right now. Regarding Rodney, I’m pretty confident he’ll finally get the job done, but using 31 pitches to do so won’t get it. We can’t be having our closer unavailable for games during the final week of a pennant race.
JL might want to consider dropping Granderson to the bottom of the order full time. It’s not him hitting leadoff so much as the fact that he gets more ABs than everyone else and he’s become pretty much the worst hitter on the team.
We’re in as good a shape as we could be considering the Twins are winning every game they play. I’m betting the two clubs match each other game for game this weekend, which would work in our favor.

Just enough hitting and runs to cover Seay’s ineptness against LHB and Rodney’s semi-meltdown. Whew! Once again Lyon had to come in and bail Bobby out. That’s twice lately that I can remember. Not sure who are the WSox starters yet but JL better keep Guillen in the line-up. He also must have heard me about Ordonez and Huff. If you have a good hitter, he should be able to hit any pitcher. Other teams have players who bat against both RHP and LHP. The only one I really wonder about now is Granderson. In Chicago, the hitters will need to come through because the Tigers are going with Bonine and Robertson who are bound to give up some runs and hits. At least the Tiger’s RHP won’t have to face Thome.

Like tkorea said: big win. I don’t think that we should blame Fernando for home run. The pressure was very big. Of course, the closer (should I omit “this”?) must fight anyway, but there was really huge pressure. Another excellent pitching by Justin. Well done, Tigers!

Great job by Lyon and Inge, Lyon got out of that inning with good pitching and great defense, and Inge saved the game, at least he saved it from being tied!

OK – Can’t stand losing to the Sox – let’s take it to Ozzie’s team. Let’s hope KC still has some magic for the Twins too.
