Maggio's hair now up on eBay

If you search on eBay for Magglio Ordonez hair, you’ll come up with a pretty unique bidding item. As promised, he has put up for auction the hair that was cut Wednesday. Proceeds benefit the Imerman Angels, an organization that connects people currently battling cancer with cancer survivors for personal support and encouragement.

The package up for bid includes the hair, a game bat autographed by Magglio and the use for his private box at Comerica Park for the Sept. 15 game against the Royals. Starting bid is $5,000, and bidding runs through July 4 at 8 p.m. ET.

I think I might let Lyon finish this game.

Nice win. I think I also would of let Lyon finish this one out, simply because Rodney has thrown a lot lately in these close games. But as usual he makes it interesting but got the job done.

Now to Houston. That team I think is a little better hitting team than the two we just saw. At least they won’t be roasting since it is an indoor stadium, although I don’t think that it bothers most of our guys too much. Glad they got this game in before the weather. As most of you when you look out your windows the sky is black, and very windy.

When it’s going good, everything seems to work out. Rodney has to blow one sooner or later, and I thought today might be that day. Glad to be wrong.

Galarraga pitched a good game and, except for that bad first inning pitch to Saline’s own Jason Fox, would have had good numbers to go with it.

Raburn picked up Granderson after Grandy made that baserunning mistake. First JL talked to Curtis, then he handed him over to McClendon. Grandy was explaining himself and Lloyd was just shaking his head. Good teaching there, I hope. When it’s going good, you play over those mistakes.

Umpire McClelland had kind of a bad day. Missed the Cabrera homer, it appears, and made a bad call on that DP transfer late in the game. I’m assuming the ground rule calls for anything over the yellow line to be a homer, but I don’t know why. A fence is a fence, just like in Tiger Stadium. They make it tougher than it needs to be.

Santiago is worth his weight in gold.

How’d you all like the Iso camera? Looks like it would be a great teaching tool for youngsters, as we’ve always had to go to the game to see how these guys played their positions.

I like the auction from Maggs. My own opinion is that he looks better with long hair while wearing his cap, but the short look is MUCH better when he’s bareheaded. My fashion statement of the season. Or decade.

I thought that 5K was a lot for just the hair, didnt realize you get the private box and the bat.. that might make it worth it for some rich SOB.
.
in other news, i won a pair of the tickets from last nights Twitter Event. July 21st… i can’t believe it.

OK here’s my take……….not on the game, on the auction. Take the hair out of the auction and donate it to cancer for use in making wigs for people who lose theirs in treatment.
.
That would be a much more noble use of his hair, and I mean, folks there’s something a little itchy-scratchy about possessing a celebrity’s hair, let alone displaying it with pride. Just donate it to cancer.
.
Auction the bat and seats. They would be quite enough.
.
Just in case I’m missing the point, if it was a given that the final possessor would then donate the hair, then never mind.
