Day off for Inge

For the first time all season, Brandon Inge is out of the starting lineup. Jim Leyland decided this was the day to finally give him a day off, as he lined up as many left-handers as he could against A’s starter Trevor Cahill. Thus, Jeff Larish gets the start at third base, with Clete Thomas and Josh Anderson both in the starting outfield alongside Curtis Granderson.

“If we chagne Thomas’ name to Sanderson, we’ll be all set,” Leyland said Saturday.

Magglio Ordonez is in the lineup before he leaves the team for a few days.

G-Man is looking for trouble again today. He seems to have lost his sense of the strike zone and thus has become very hittable. He is becoming quite a gopher ball pitcher.
This 1st inning is gonna be an important one to get through after that tater.

Yikes,
I’m officially worried about Galarraga now. He looks bad.
Can see where Bonderman slots in.

Hopefully the offense can discipline itself today and not just come out 1st pitch swinging.
.
Miner looks like he isn’t gonna be fooling many hitters today so I guess his job will be to eat innings. Early in the game and these guys have shown they are capable of coming back from a long ways behind–but it is a Sunday day game and there can be a mindset that they are looking forward to that day off.

Wow, I said last night that they’d need Miner by the 4th inning and it turns out I was being generous. Don’t know what’s wrong with Galarraga, but his pitches obviously aren’t fooling anyone. He might need a minor league stint to get squared away. If he has options.
.
Classic Miner today, get into trouble and get himself out of it. It’s not pretty, but it’s effective. Jim can leave him in the pen if he wants, just don’t trade the dude.

Not sure about French. Sure leaves the ball up a lot. Good joke from Leyland in the postgame. When asked what he told French during that mound visit, he replied “I told him Toledo was only 38 miles away.” :-)

Anderson is making some rookie mistakes and should probably get more reps, but the other hitters are squeezing him out. After working out with David Ortiz, Santiago is outslugging Big Papi by a wide margin. Who’d have thought that would happen? Good ABs by most everyone today. 34 runs in the three game series.

There was a fantastic play by Joe Mauer in the 9th inning of today’s game, if anyone wants to check out the highlights. I switched over there just in time to see it happen. The Yankees, however, walked off on the Twins for the 3rd straight day. Couldn’t happen to a nicer team. ;-)

Mr Beck.

I am wondering what “MLB” fans are thinking. First things first. I love the game of baseball but love the Detroit Tigers two times that. I dont know if I am being a homer on this at all. I understand with the seasons they are having Youk and Tex leading Cabrera in the all-star game. One thing I dont understand is why isnt Inge even on the list for AL 3rd Basemen? Longball Evan from the rays I understand but if I had a choice I would pick Inge over everyone else from any AL team. “The Game” actually means something. No one can field like he can and he is actually hitting this year. I think if people are just going to vote because someone is playing in a “Big” market, They should change the meaning of the game. A-Rod is a great batter but average fielder at best. I dont know if I’m just too young to understand at 27 But I thought ALL-STAR was both sides of the ball. Inge is SICK in the field and good at the plate this year. What does Detroit fans have to do to make him even on the list?
