Saturday: Tigers vs. A's

Worth noting how much more comfortable Raburn looks at the plate and in the field lately. He has settled in a bit after that nightmare of a series against the Angels and the miscue against the Indians. He’ll be in LF tonight.

“I think he was putting a lot of presure on himself,” Leyland said, “and I think now he’s ready to do what he’s capable of doing.”

Porcello has done a nice job today through 5. Time for the boys to “step up to the plate”.
Granderson needs to lay one down here as he is baffled today.

Nice to have these runs for Porcello and it would be great to see him throw 7 today. Raburn has hung in there amidst adversity. Kudos.

Hopefully we can score for GMan tomorrow as well. He could use a pick-me-up.

Hmmm—I woulda kept Rickey in for one more. But give JL credit for trying to save the kid’s arm whenever he can.

Don’t think much about pitching Zoom multiple innings.
We do have other guys that could use work and he will not be available tomorrow now.

I was just thinking the same thing- why are we wasting Zoom for this game?

Zumaya has had pretty much perfect control this season. That is such a huge plus. I don’t like the 0-2 fastball to Holliday though. I think dropping a curve on him right there could have been an exquisite pitch and one that would make the AL hitters stand up and take notice. Zoom’s flaw is his macho aggressiveness. When he learns to harness that he could be real good.

Bonderman won his start tonight. He threw 7 innings, giving up 2 runs, 6 hits one walk and fanned 4.

We’re the only team in the division to win a game today. Excellent day.
I was wondering about Zumaya throwing two innings also. There’s an off day Monday but what about tomorrow? I don’t know, getting him used to consecutive days? Who knows. I suppose Miner needs to be available tomorrow to replace Galarraga in the early innings. Gardenhire used Joe Nathan Tuesday night in a non-save situation, then needed him in both games Wednesday and Thursday. By Friday night, he was blowing a game to the Yankees.
Anyway, relaxing and fun ballgames the last two evenings. I like the close ones, but this kind is good to have too. At this particular point in time, no one is in a really bad hitting slump.

Hey Jason,

An anonymous member of the Red Sox front office put the Red Sox “At-bat” songs and “coming-in-to-pitch” songs on his blog yesterday. I was wondering if you could post the Tiger player songs. I was also wondering what song is playing (at Comerica) when they announce the Tiger line-up.

I read somewhere that the Tigers will be able to replace Ordonez’ spot on the roster in his absence. Not sure how the ruling works.
My guess is that Ramirez would come up for a cup of coffee if this , in fact is true.
