Everett latest Tiger to fall ill

They probably mentioned it on the broadcast already, but Ramon Santiago is starting his second straight game at shortstop because Adam Everett is sick. He has the same bug that knocked Gerald Laird out of play Monday, and he was feeling bad enough that Jim Leyland told him to stay home and not come to the ballpark.

There’s another motivation in keeping Everett home, of course, and that’s to try to contain whatever he has from spreading around the clubhouse. With a 10-day, three-city trip coming up, Leyland is clearly worried about the chance of more players coming down with it, especially when they’re all together on the plane tomorrow evening.

not to mention, Ramon is doing a terrific job replacing him! Nothing against Everett, just happy to see Ramon producing so well at the plate this year.

There is more pleasure in beating the White Sox than just about anything else in life. I hope Hawk choked on his words today. Good solid game. Great pitching! Go Santiago!

Greg, I did answer your previous post regarding the Baltimore series but here it is again. We’ll be there on Saturday night, May 30, and we’ll be in pretty much the same seats we were in last year. We’re also doing the Sunday game and we’ll be upstairs behind homeplate, which a favorite location of mine in Camden Yards.

Santiago certainly makes his case for being the starting shortstop, but it’s cool. He’ll get plenty of PT now, which is all I asked. Speaking of PT, they’re going to have to get Larish in there if he’s going to be with the team. Anderson is making it somewhat crowded in the outfield. He brings several things to the table that we haven’t had in a long time.

I’d say the first hurdle has been cleared. We split with Chicago, are 1-1 in the division, are 5-4 overall, and are beginning to define some roles. Let’s go west.

Rich, Thanks. I didn’t see your first response. Bloganology, I suppose. We’ll try to holler at you again; I’m bringing the wife and both sons. Hope the the top of the order gets going soon.

Greg

Hey. Isn’t it great to be able to post without problems again, and after a white wash of Chicago!!

Our bottom 4 continue to produce with their hitting well up and strikeouts well down on last year. Today’s 4 of the 5 walks with their 5 of 11 hits is getting them on base plenty of times and even with some of the top 5 off to slow starts, they were still able to be batted in for 5 of the 9 runs. Apart from Treanor’s slow start, the whole bench with the 4 regulars are fast becoming the hidden strength of the team.
.
What can you say about Cabs and Mondo. They are clearly the backbones of our offence and pitching. Cab’s timing is poetry in motion and Gman’s determination to produce and succeed is incredible.

Ramon, You’re doing great! And Everett, Get better soon! Drink plenty of fluids and get plenty of rest!! I’m a single mom of one 9 year old son, who’s a HUGE sports fan and an even bigger Tiger’s fan! I’m 33 and my son has mad it clear, that unless I date a professional sports man, that he doesn’t want me dating at all… So along with my best wishes for everyones health, is anyone single on the team? Because you all are my only chance at not being single for the rest of my life! He wants a pro sports guy, and I refuse to look outside of our home teams! We live in Fair Haven, MI with a beautiful view of lake st. clair. Just across the street from of us. I’m a pharmacist with CVS. Anyone available to avail me of a lifetime of lonliness?

uh.. wft? beck’s blog turns personal ads?

This is what happens when we don’t post enough comments. Nature abhors a vacuum.

Let’s go folks, the blog server problem seems to have been fixed. I haven’t had a good disagreement here with anyone in two years. :-)

That’s 4 outings for perry and he hasn’t look paticularly good in any of them.. though i guess he still hasn’t given up a hit so he’s obviously effective. How long is it gonna be for him to buckle down and throw strikes?

Zumaya got roughed up again last night…

Perry was so consistent in spring training, these last outings have been somewhat surprising. Looked like he threw all fastballs yesterday, for some reason. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets sent down at some point, but I’m not sure who would replace him if Zumaya is struggling. I suspect Zoom would be called up as soon as he’s healthy, regardless of results. Not sure I agree with that.
