Statement from Ilitch family on Davidson

As you probably know by now, Pistons owner Bill Davidson passed away yesterday. Tigers owner Mike Ilitch and his wife Marian put out a statement this afternoon:

“We are saddened by the passing of Bill Davidson and extend our condolences to his wife and family, the Pistons and Shock organizations and all of his employees.

“We always found Bill to be a very personable, friendly and warm person. He was a tremendous businessman, owner and competitor. His commitment to our community and his passion for innovation will leave a lasting legacy.”

Good to see a couple of our major league players in the lineup take control and score 2 runs finally on a single by Sheffield and a homerun by Laird. These lineups are pretty soft. I think it’s going to make a huge difference when all our WBC players get back and play for the Tigers. Opposing pitchers will have something to fear again. Miguel Cabrera hit a homerun today and almost hit another one. Lets get these players back and ship out the minor leaguers. Then I can see what the real Detroit Tigers are going to look like in ’09.
