Miner to start on Monday, Guillen away

Bonine will be sent to Toledo to start there on Monday. As recently as this afternoon, Miner was scheduled to start for the Hens on Monday until the Tigers made the change. Leyland didn’t want to go into details.

In other news, Carlos Guillen is not available tonight. He’s back in Detroit, where his wife underwent surgery to take care of complications she was suffering after giving birth to their daughter a week and a half ago. Supposedly the surgery went well, thank goodness.

JL read this blog. Yeah right. The day he reads this blog is the day I become a White Sox fan. While we all pushed for Lopez, I think Miner makes a better starter than reliever. We need some experience at this point in the season. I’m good with it.
Good heavens, now MRS. Guillen is on the DL. While no fun for her, the surgery should take care of it. Always something coming ’round the corner, man. All the best to the family.
We should be lighting up this Olsen guy tonight. I don’t want to hear anything about “well, he was tough.” Just hold ’em to three, Kenny.

Well, I can say that I would much prefer Miner over Bonine, and that’s said with me not being a huge Miner fan. He just needs to keep the walks down and he should be ok.
Best wishes from me to Carlos and the Mrs.
Go get ’em Kenny, need to get off to a good start here in the second half.

I agree. Best wishes to the Guillens. Also, good call on Miner. I’m also not a huge fan and suspect that he’ll get lit up evry now and again (more now than again). I hope they have Pudge catching for him. Might be able to get him to focus some. But his rotation may turn into softball score games.

All that’s left now is what to do about Sheff.

Hey Rich,
Are you still going to be at Camden tomorrow night? I’m leaving Roanoke, Va tomorrow morning and picking up my son in Culpeper. We’ll be at Camden around 6:00. Would like to say hello if your’ going to be there. We’ll be in Lowe Reserved, Row 31 I think. I’ll have on A blue tiger hat. I hope I can meet a felloe blogger and Tiger loyalist. I’m good with the announcement on Miner.

Best wishes to the Guillen family.
The news about Miner, to me, was expected. Why else would they have sent him down to Toledo to start a couple games? Makes sense. Glad to see Bonine not in the rotation anymore, at least not now.
I’m pretty excited to see Inge back tonight at 3rd.
Hopefully these few days off did the Tigers well. Tonight should be a good game! Go Tigers🙂

All the best to Mrs. Guillen …
Reg. Miner, Most people will agree he is a better choice over Bonine. He might not be the best 5th pitcher out there, but he should last longer into games than Bonine.
Also, he will have to mix pitches as a starter, just what JL wanted. Irrespective of, it works out or not, its a good decision by JL/DD, not recalling Bonine for now.
Go Tigers.

I hope Carlos’ wife does well and everything goes smoothly for all the Guillens.
Hope the top of the 1st is no indication of what we can expect the rest of the way. Bad ABs all around.
Polanco has been popping up a lot lately and quickly.
Granderson has to learn not to put himslf in the hole with the count against him. He does that a lot. Marcus just looked bad, period.
He can get so hot and powerful but when he tails off you see why he has never been able to play regularly.
Miner over Bonine is a good move. I hope it pays off but at least it gives us a chance on getting guys out with a strikeout here and there.
Let’s go Maggs.

Now, if we see more of what we saw in the 2nd it might be a different story.
Sheffield started strong wehn he came back, hopefully this is not just primary rest response mode.

That durn 0-2 pitch agians LHB has hurt us all year.
Rainbow throw from our rightfielder means Maggs is probably not right with that oblique.
C’mon Kenny get it going dude

That was a strange DP.We got lucky on that one.Come on Kenny, settle down

Another weird DP.Looks like the birds are trying to give us this one.Come on boys, its time to knock this pitcher out

Bruce—I need to borrow you line!!!
“That was a strange DP.We got lucky on that one.Come on Kenny, settle down”
Huff, Markakis and Roberts have put together All Star numbers so far. Did any of them make it?

Curtis is hanging in there pretty solid against the LHPs. Tough break on his ground ball–ncie play by Millar. Inge, on the other hand, I guess there is just going to have to be a grudging acceptance on our part as far as his hitting approach goes. He just does not look like he is going to ever hit much.

we shoulda started bonine today😉

Kenny is not on but the one thing about him is tht he can find again after he loses it.
Some guys just can’t do that. We need to get our cleanup guys ( 4th & 5th ) hitting

The boys look like they are wearing ankle weights today. Sure would be nice to see some speed and energy.
They are letting this guy off the hook as he is not throwing anything signifcant at all.

Dontrelle pitched tonight for lakeland.
3.0INN, 4H, 1ER, 0BB, 1K

if they are smart.. kenny has faced his last batter…

Thats good news.NO WALKS! I hope he turns it around…..I`m listening to the Orioles broadcast and they are both ripping Edgar, saying that he didnt run hard on the double, and that he barely ran on his ground single.I`m wondering if his hammie is still bothering him…..

i knew that would be a hit.. i guess they’re just not that smart.. how can i see this coming a mile away and they just sit there and let it happen..

Chad,You`re right,Kenny`s having a rough one tonight.Another birds baserunning error and another DP saved us this inning.

Has polanco hit one past the pitcher yet tonight?
