Rotation change

This isn’t the big change, but Jeremy Bonderman and Kenny Rogers were flipped in the rotation. Bonderman will pitch here in Seattle on Sunday, and Kenny Rogers will go on Monday. That obviously allows Rogers to pitch in Oakland, where he’s 25-4 for his career.

Good news about Rodney and Zumaya. Hopefully it won’t be long before we see them in the D. Also interesting move with Thames, and I wish Inge could play third. To me it was obvious in those few games in LA he saved many hits, that I know Carlos cannot get to.

GO TIGERS, GO WINGS, GO PISTONS

I hope you folks don’t get me wrong about Inge. I would rather see him there than Carlos. I think there are times that you want him to be manning the position based on opponent and who are starter is.
.
I’m just saying that if he were given the spot and he hit .220, I would not be the only person here questioning his playing time.
.
Don Wert didn’t hit much either. But you know that was a long time ago and a much different brand of baseball. 1984 was a long time ago too. I don’t think you can hide too many .220 hitters in the AL these days and still expect championship results.
.
Play Inge and DH Guillen. Fine. Give him the job until he can’t he hurts the team offensively–and hopefully that doesn’t happen.
.
I don’t think he should be a role player. I don’t think he will perform well in that function and that is not fair to him either. I would rather see him play full-time somewhere else and then figure out what to do about 3rd base.
.
I don’t think he will be an outstanding catcher, average maybe. It still bugs me they hung him out to dry in the Cabrera deal then changed the parameters by swithcing Cab to 1st. If they thought, overall, MCab was a better choice for 3rd, and they made a major deal to secure him then OK, but to suddently ‘discover” that MCab can’t play 3rd well enough, tells me they did not do their homework.
.
They will hold on to him, and they will expect him to sit on the bench and play somewhere when they need him to. I just don’t think he has the personality to excel in that role.
.
With Wilson likely finished they pretty much have to hang onto Inge anyway as Sardinha is probably not MLB material.

Holy Cow!
.
Lost in all this was a very good AB by Jeff Larish. He had a number of foul balls and hit the snot out of a 3-2 pitch.

Geez, JL could take Inge out now and he would have already had a great game!
.

Maggs is back to 1st pitch swing mode again I see.

I don’t care if Inge plays 3rd or if he plays catcher, just keep playing him JL.

Great AB by Larish. He looks like a ballplayer doesn’t he?

Thames pretty decent with the leather too. He is crushing the ball tonight…. just a little too quick with the bat. Slow down Marcus.

mags started his 1st pitch swing again tuesday and wednesday, i was explaining to angel fans and my buddy who i went with (dodger fan) that ordonez is simply trying to recreate last years results and i feel that ordonez feels anything less than .330 will be a disappointing season for him, so he’s trying to effin hard….
.
wednesday, the tigers win in anahiem, every single at bat by ordonez was a first pitch swing. there were angels fans laughing and commenting ‘where’s the patience????’
.
so… thats the state of ordonez…..
.
i still want a push for the quarter sized K sew on patch for all the tigers strike out victoms. or how bout a DP patch for double play ballers…..
.
ehh. they seem to be crushing the fearful seattle squad tonight, so good for them.
.
angels hitting has been in a slump most of may, and seattle has been slumping since the season began, not unlike the tigers…. that being said, i’m not putting a whole hell of a lot of stock in the current situation of the starting pitching and the team’s hitting.
.
shrug
.
GO TIGERS
.
mike

boy larish sure looks like he’s having fun.
.
i wish the rest of the team would realize the dream and opportunity they have and make the most of it.
.
mike

what the he!! was that, did Cabby get confused?

Granderson is hammering the ball. His outs were both hit hard and long.

Gotta make sure they don’t go ComaZone again. Nothing after 7 runs in the 1st. (Remember Minnesota?)
.
Cabrera looked a little brain dead on Granderson’s shot to center. Kinda don’t want to see that happening.
.
Mariners keep chipping away and Nate has his 1 bad inning and this thing will be close.
.
They just need to make a statement and get a couple to finish this one off.
.
I missed a couple of the Angel games. Didn’t realize Ordonez was back to his old habit. Great if it works but I really don’t like seeing him do it in a double play situation. Guess it’s fine if you hit!

more defensive folly from maggs…. nice try, lucky to have the diving catch attempt hit his body and not pass through him like bad gas after a wet burrito

Well it’s a balllgme now. We let them get back into it.
.
The fact they stop hitting after coming out strong has happened so much it has to be indicative of a problem. They seem to let it go to their heads.

nate is blowing up
.
lopez should be in the BP but JL has dolsi and minor….

This is the 1 bad inning here. Especially losing Ibanez. It’s hard to watch when they start doing this.
.
One bright spot though was Renteria making a play to his right and throwing the batter out.
.
I’m looking for positives here!

They are definitely in the dreaded Coma Zone.
.
I hope the coma does not infiltrate the defense and the bullpen.

Good defensive moves but bringing in Miner just when Dolsi settled in might be the change Seattle needs.

Miner did a fine job. If he can get that 94 MPH fastball over for a strike it makes his sinker effective. I would bet the farm that we see Todd Jones in the 9th though.
.
Hold on to your seats.

I’d like to see the replay on the 3rd strike to Larish. It didn’t look like he swung to me. This a case of the ump wanting to go home and using the rookie?
.
Well the Tigers failed to score in 8 of the 9 innings they played tonight. That’s not a good sign.

Jones was impressive. Miner and Dolsi all.
.
Really happy to see Granderson poke the ball like he did. He was darn close to going 5×5 tonight. Thames hit the ball long and deep and this underscores the threat he brings to the plate.
.
Larish did OK. He hit the ball very solidly in his 1st AB and could easily have had a couple of hits. He does strike out a lot but hopefully a few more looks at the plate and we start to see some of the power that we’ve heard about.
.
I missed the opeing error but from what I saw Renteria played a solid game. Wonder how long JL will keep Cab hitting 6th. I know he has struggled but I do wonder if that is the right thing to do with him. I’d rather see him in the 3 hole myself. I think he would see a few more pipe shots with Ordonez hitting behind him. I would not mind seeing Thames hitting 5th or 6th.
.
Doesn’t matter much what I think. Let’s hope that they start to develop a winning approach.
.
Just noticed someone asked for a link to a quote I posted earlier:

I like that ComaZone thing. Sounds like a good name for a band. :-) At this point, I’ll take the seven runs no matter how and when they get them. Seven runs should win you a ballgame. I thought they had a shot at add-on runs when Cabrera had his brain freeze with a hot Granderson coming up next. Oh well. I won’t be concerned with it unless they come out tomorrow afternoon and tack on another seven or eight scoreless innings, a trend we’ve been seeing this year.
.
Robertson somehow managed to give up four runs on only five hits.
.
I was glad to see Leyland’s moves actually work tonight. The man deserves something to go right for him. He made the late defensive switches, surprisingly inserting Pudge for the ninth. I don’t think he’s ever done that before that I can recall. He went with Dolsi and Miner. Dolsi must have some movement on that heater because it seems no one can square up on it. Miner has a world of confidence right now. Jones has been more dominant this season than at anytime I remember.
.
I wonder what the big pitching switch will be?
.
I had more, but it’s late. See ya tomorrow.
