Cruceta cleared to travel

No, really, we mean it this time. Dave Dombrowski was informed today that U.S. Immigration has approved Francisco Cruceta’s visa application, allowing him to finally travel from his native Dominican Republic to the states. Cruceta can pick up the application tomorrow and make his travel plans.

He’ll report to Lakeland, where he’ll pick up his throwing and prepare himself for games. Once he reports there, the Tigers have 30 days to evaluate him, after which they’ll have to decide whether to add him to their 25-man roster or outright him, since he’s out of minor-league options.

Thank God, I hope he is worth the wait. I heard that he has been throwing in the Dominican and really should have his arm in shape. I am sure they will want him to see some live pitching. Wouldn’t it really be depressing if he turns out to be a bust??

GO TIGERS

looks like the US gov’t is feelin’ sorry for the tigers too!! haha LET CRUCETA THROUGH!!!! :)
.
.
j/k of course. but good news (hopefully) none the less. whatever it takes to keep girllie outta the game.
.
mike

so. after two, i’m not impressed. comeon…. cabrera on second with thames batting, and a slow grounder to short…. anyone ever seen the movie Major League? well…. i think these guys need to kick JoBu to the curb and just play baseball.
.
still lots of baseball to play tonight…..
.
mike

wow casey’s batting for lowell. i’m kinda happy for it, even though the base hit irritates me. casey was a good guy for the club.

mmm k along with my STOP STRIKING OUT theory, goes a now STOP F*&^%$# WALKING PEOPLE and… polanco… come on….

It’s pretty hard to know what a person ‘feels” after going through these first 8 games but this one didn’t”feel” good in the first though we slid trough.
JL says he would be disappointed if the team were “pressing” well what do call the bobble that Polanco made to cost us 2 runs? That’s not pressing?
.
Sheffield and Ordonez look like they don’t even have a chance to get a ball to thw all anymore. Without these guys busting down fences (along with Cabrera and Guillen) we can forget about it. It will be a long season.
.
They look awful just plain awful.
.
Bonderman gets ahead of Lugo (take advantage of a break in the lineup man!) and hangs a slider. We were lucky to get out of that inning giving up only 2. Sure would be nice to see something to get excited about.

I feel sorry for season ticket holders. They must be choked after making a decision to spend that kind of money.
.
May as well get used to watching Sheffield pop up and gound into DPs. Because that is what he is going to do until he gets rediagnosed and they put him on the DL. He does not play well when he has an ailment of any kind. I was not impressed with last year and I am less impressed this year.
.
The carnival is getting worse. Guillen at 1B is learning how to play the bag and that kind of hurts when the team needs to at least do the little things right.
.

George Kell and Freddy Lynn?

Casey’s foot was off the bag on Ordonez’ 1ST PITCH HIT GROUND BALL!!
.
I hope we don’t start to see players start to turn on each other. If that happens (and human nature what it is, it could), this team will never gel.

whoa, tie game, this is insaniity!! come on maggs

thames i mean

HELL YES WAY TO GO THAMES, KILLED THAT BALL!!!!!

Now that is something to be guardedly excited about. Hope they learnded that being patient at the plate was responsible for those runs. Nice job by Renteria and we caught a break with a couple of those calls behind the plate with Marcus up. Take advantage guys

*HOLDING MY BREATH* the tigers are leading…. come on bondo lets shut them down

I’m gonna try and keep my “fingers” shut.
Got nobody to talk to during the game as my wife figures it is a good time to be away from me! She used to listen when we played .500 + ball but with the way things have gone this season I think she saw no advantage to “waiting it out”.
Have a good game everyone.

and thames backs up his offense with a palmed ball the =’s a double….

All I can say is we are winning and my Comcast is showing an infomercial instead of the game on channel 25. Arggghhh. So I guess I will just send Light and energy and y’all can watch it for me. :)

Well we have to see what they send in for a pitcher now! Good goin Renteria!!!!!

I can’t help myself after watching Inge’s last AB. The Green Monster claims another victim! Not a good AB with a runner in scoring position.
.
Still a lot of time left in this game and we have to get through the notorious 6th inning yet!
.
They need to show they can score runs. Obviously this is not nearly enough at Fenway.
.
P.S. Anybody think JL might PR Curtis before he gets the green light to hit? Probably not as he likely would play a couple in Toledo anyway.

Well Bonderman did what he had to and with normal Tiger play he would not have gien up any runs. Polanco did drop a DP ball. IMO that cost us 2 and not 1 like the official scorer has to score it.
.
Let’s see what the bullpen can do now.

Let’s all hope Jones is having a good day!!!!!

Well the bullpen was very very good. Especially Seay and Bautista looked like he might be an answer as a set up guy. He is keeping the ball down and that is great to see.
.
I would like to be Oh-So-Wrong but I stand by assessment of Sheffield.
Kudos to Clete Thomas and JL for calling that bunt. I was hoping they would lay one down. Well done.
.
Looks like we will see Jones (hopefully) do his thing in the 9th.

Thank You Jeremy Bonderman!!!

Man does Jones like to cause ulcers or what? No matter what it is finally a win!!!!!

The Cubs and Pirates are in the 14 inning! That would be a hard game to watch!

Phew!!.
This was the biggest win of the season!
In my books (under the circumstances) Jones gets a save. And in typical Jones fashion too. After all the tying run was on deck!!
.
Geez Thomas is making things hard on JL and DD. He even strokes a nice hit off a pretty tough LHP.
.
Now they need to get Polanco going and then Cabrera. Cabrera does not look like he is getting good swings and obviously Polanco is so far off he seems hopeless. Great thing about thim is that he also has the ability to .500 for an extended time. He will come around and when he does this team will really pick it up.
.

see guys (and gals, apparently), told ya tonight was bondos nite… said it since last nite. he rocked. good for him. now the tigers have a win. the ‘win monkey’ off their back.
.
cheers to a good rest of the season.
.
GO TIGERS!!!!!!

WE WON WE FINALLY WON. I was beginning to think that we were going to lose all 162 games. Bondo hung in there even though he was messed up by a couple of errors. Pen did well. The strike zone was a little crazy even though I thought it went both ways. The call at first when he called MAGGS out on the infield single, end yes I mean it was a single. For one Maggs beat out the throw, and two Casey was pulled off the bag. However we had the make-up call at 2nd because Lugo was safe on that steal. Anyway, I will take it anyway I we can get it. Thanks Tigers, Thanks Bondo, I am so relieved. Hopefully they will loosen up and start to play ball they way that they are capable.

GO TIGERS, GO ROBERtSON, GO HITTERS.

It was ugly… but it was a win. Bondo’s strike to ball ratio was a little off track, but he hung in there. would have been nice to see him get through 7, but you cant have everything.
Thanks for the win guys and good luck tomorow Nate.
GO TIGERS!!

Good starting pitching.
Timely hitting
Good relief
Patience and discipline
(8 walks 2 Ks; Boston pithcers threw about 170 pitches)
I hope JL emphasizes the above point and the correlation to the outcome.

We all are superstitious when it comes to baseball. So yesterday I posted a Tigers Fight Song and they won, so I gotta do it again today…

Never thought one win would feel so goooood!
GO TIGERS!

How does it take 3 hours and 45 minutes to play a routine 7-2 ballgame? I’m glad Boston is not my team because I wouldn’t have time to watch them.
.
Bonderman pitched very well, a cool headed workmanlike effort. The Sox hitters can run up a pitch count like no one else. His 2-seamer that gets away from him up and in to RH hitters keeps them loose. :-) Bobby Seay is steady, and Bautista continues to be the real deal. Jones pitched a scoreless ninth. And finally some timely hitting. I could have strangled Casey. :-) I’m glad he’s not in the division.
.
It’s probably a good thing to play these playoff teams early in the season before they get on a roll. The standings are bunched right now, so we’re in as good a shape as a 1-7 team can be. We’ve got several hitters due to break out of slumps, Granderson is due back soon, and we’ll finally get a look at Cruceta.
.
The key now is to win some series, starting with tonight’s game and continuing into Chicago this weekend.
.
Things look good…………………….for now.
.

Rich you hit the nail right on the head. Not only hitting, but timely hitting.
.
I have to admit regarding Sean Casey, it kinda is a little disturbing seeing him in a Sox’s uniform. And it is funny since he was only with the team for a little over a season and a half. But I really enjoyed him and wish he was still a Tiger. I am glad that he wound up on a good team, but still freaks me out.
.
And again that Boston team can run up a pitch count in a real hurry, and it didn’t help Bondo’s call he probably had to throw 20 or so more pitches in stressful situations because of errors in the field. If not for that I feel he at least would of pitched one more inning because his count would of been in line. Bondo did a great job though not losing his cool. So some mental toughness. I don’t know how many of you remember the game in LA last year (Mike you probably were there) but Bondo gave up quite a few runs in the early innings (I think to the tune of 7 or so) but Leyland kept him out there and low and behold we actually caught up and went ahead and would of won the game if not for an error by a certian pitcher who blew a save. Or the game in the ALDS against the Yankees were he was fantastic. Bondo is one of those pitchers who you can tell has the stuff and the mental toughness at times to be great but cannot always seem to be consistent with it. But yesterday, he did it, especially when he knew his team needed it desperately.
.
Robertson will be key tonight along with Wakefield and what his knuckleball is doing tonight. I was looking at previous times we have seen him in the last few years and it is really up and down. The only one that doesn’t seem to have any success against him is Polanco. I don’t know how the new guys will handle him (Renteria or Cabrera) I went back 3 or 4 years and couldn’t find any evidence that they had seen him.
.
Anyway GO TIGERS, GO NATE, GO HITTERS

GO WINGS

had a rough time getting to the tiger games last year, but i made it to the 12-0 rout which, in my opinion, was the game sheffield really started go get his swing and timing back. he was hitting .246 by the end of that game, went 3-4 with a walk. that game was on may 24th. bonderman was pitching, very well went 8 innings and ledezma finished the game.
.
it was definately a good game to go see. i didn’t get to the other games last year cuz my wife had just had open heart surgery the week before. (very bad timing for her to have that kinda surgery a week before my beloved tigers come into town.
.
so very selfish of her!!!
.
haha ok well GO TIGERS
.
mike

ak so i take that back, i was wrong, it was an april game, the first of 2 that i went to… not the 12-0 win, but the 9-5 win. the may game was at home, and i wasn’t in michigan that week… my mind is leaving me. i’m gonna blame the baby for my mixup, since he decided last nite wasn’t going to be one of those ‘sleep’ nights.
.
