Happy Opening Day

As you can probably tell by now watching on TV or looking outside, they’re going to be able to get this in. It’s not really that warm, more like around 50, but the only big weather factor when the starts is probably going to be the wind, which appears to be going in from right field.

Not a whole lot of news today, other than minor items. Dontrelle Willis’ minor-league start on Sunday was a mixed bag, according to Leyland. He still had good velocity, but his command was in and out. The velocity is still a point of encouragement for them, but he has to be able to command without falling into the trap of trying to aim the ball.

Clay Rapada, meanwhile, will be ready to begin the season in the Triple-A Toledo bullpen, according to head athletic trainer Kevin Rand. He pitched in a minor-league game on Sunday.

I’d give lineups, but you probably know those by now. Enjoy the day.

For, lo, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of the singing of birds is come,
And the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.

Thanks, Rich. Now it’s official!

How ’bout those Tigers?!?!

Gah, I can’t get WXYT on the MLB Gameday Audio. This seems to happen all the time with both Tigers and Red Wings games.

KC station comes in just fine. Is it WXYT or MLB that is messing up here?

Another opening day with another new and enhanced media player which doesn’t work for what I pay for it to do.

Hopefully you’ve switched back to WXYT by now… it seemed to click on sometime in the 1st inning.

In my experience, it’s been MLB messing up in the past. I remember back in early 2006 when the Tigers would frequently get bumped to other Detroit stations because of Red Wings playoff games, and MLB would hook up WXYT anyway. As much as I like to listen to the Wings, that’s not what I was there for.

The worst feature of the new media player is how hard it is now to skip commercials if you’re listening to an archived game. It no longer shows you what the new time position of the clip will be when you drag it around. It waits until after you release it.

Now how about some timely hitting to support JV’s good work so far?

P.S. What’s the point of the post preview? To show you how awesomely broken my paragraphs are going to look once posted?
