Tickets going, going …

As of noon, the Tigers had sold almost as many single-game tickets in two hours of sales as they did in the first two days when they went on sale last spring. The total through two hours is 80,419. Online, tickets.com told the club they’re experiencing traffic levels similar to when Cubs tickets go on sale.

Ticket update

According to vice president of ticket sales Bob Raymond, the Tigers sold 37,000 tickets in the first 45 minutes after single-game tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. today. They handed out 635 wristbands to folks who showed up at the Comerica Park box office last night before lines started forming at 8am this morning. Lines were still wrapping back to Ford Field by the time the windows opened.

Saturday's lineup

Gary Sheffield is expected to be here today, but he is not in the starting lineup. He said later that the decision was to give him a day to get back up to speed before starting on Sunday. Also, Raburn gets the start in center field, giving Granderson a day off. Brandon Inge starts again, but at designated hitter.

  1. Rodriguez, C
  2. Polanco, 2B
  3. Inge, DH
  4. Ordonez, RF
  5. Cabrera, 3B
  6. Guillen, 1B
  7. Raburn, CF
  8. Clevlen, LF
  9. Santiago, SS

And the Indians lineup …

  1. Sizemore, CF
  2. Michaels, RF
  3. Martinez, C
  4. Garko, 1B
  5. Francisco, LF
  6. Jamey Carroll, DH
  7. Marte, 3B
  8. Barfield, 2B
  9. Andy Gonzalez, SS

Interesting side note today: Dontrelle Willis and C.C. Sabathia are good friends, both from the Bay Area. Now, obviously, they’re competitors in the same division, at least for this year depending on what happens with Sabathia in free agency this year.
