Maroth
Still no official word on his trade to the Cardinals, but it’s expected to be imminent. In many of these cases, it’s a matter of notifying all the players involved before they can announce it, and the Cardinals are at home so players aren’t all centered in a team hotel. No word yet on what they’ll get in return.

First of all let’s hope this is the best thing for Mike Maroth. He seemed to really fit in well with the community here, but I would expect that his is the type of personality that he will fit in well wherever he goes. Too bad he didn’t get back to his home state of Florida.
Best of luck to him and his family but don’t forget to telegraph your pitches when you throw against us pal!
So we’re hearing it is “players to be named later”.
Also that it is likely a minor leaguer. Here’s a stretch for you……the cards have a reliever in the minors who throws right-handed. Troy somebody or other.
I thought the same thing when I looked at the Memphis roster and saw Percival on there.
I second the good wishes for Maroth. He’s always seemed to be a class act.

As long as it’s not Juan Encanarcion…..I might have to hang up the Olde English D if they brought his sorry….self back.
I’m not real sure if this was a good idea, but of course we don’t know who we got yet. Maroth could have been a reliever who actually throws stikes, unlike some in the pen. Not to mention any names.
It starts to look like Miller might stick around, you think? Durbin has made a case for himself and could strengthen the relief corps.
Oh well, I got a number of good closeup photos of Mike during a bullpen session in Philly, then witnessed his last start as a Tiger in Washington.
There are a couple of relievers on the Springfield (AA) roster that look pretty good, but who knows. As I recall, Maroth did not look good coming out of the bullpen late last season – I wonder if that counted against him.
