Casey out

He’s feeling better after his bout with a stomach virus Sunday, but Leyland wants to give him at least a day to regain his energy. It’ll probably be two days since lefty Adam Loewen is starting for the O’s on Tuesday.

Here’s the lineup:

  1. Granderson, CF
  2. Polanco, 2B
  3. Sheffield, DH
  4. Ordonez, RF
  5. Guillen, SS
  6. Rodriguez, C
  7. Monroe, LF
  8. Thames, 1B
  9. Inge, 3B

Also, Mesa will head down to Toledo for a brief rehab assignment. He’ll pitch two innings or 25 pitches on Tuesday, then rejoin the club Wednesday. If everything’s all right from there, he’ll be activated.

Wow, if you missed this one you missed some interesting stuff. Long game, though.

I was stuck listening to the Baltimore announcers and Buck Martinez didn’t seem to want to mention what was obvious; that there was a beanball war looming after the Sheffield HBP. Anyone could see it coming. Sheff handled it the correct way. Took the HBP, stole second, took third on a short passed ball, then scored. Next time up, long homerun and he strutted a little on Cabrera. Sheff was all over that game tonight. He and Maggs are everywhere, it seems.

Shut down performance by the bullpen. Ledezma, and how about Rodney? Not even a hint of wildness over 2.1 innings of work. It was a fun game to watch. Leyland must have paced a mile back and forth in that dugout tonight.

I’m glad we won’t see Cabrera anymore, because I think he’d be carrying a grudge. Well son, you don’t mess with future Hall of Famers.

I’m loving this patient offense and Maggs driving the ball to right.

An eight walk game is great, but the bottom of the lineup scares me. I don’t think the Tigers need so much from Monroe, but something like .250 and 80 or so RBIs was what I was hoping for. Somebody please tell me why Inge can’t hit most of the time, but has decent spells now and then. And then somebody, please tell him. The way he’s headed, they’ll hafta put him in the Rob Deer Hall of Fame.
