Talking with him this morning — he was back with the team for a day before heading out to see Dr. Andrews — the news sounds a little better. Like Leyland, Wilson said the initial opinion from doctors in Detroit suggests a muscle tear and that he shouldn’t need surgery. Assuming Dr. Andrews reaches the same conclusion, Wilson should be able to heal it with rest. There’s no timetable for that yet, but obviously it would be quicker than recuperating from surgery.

Well, this is slightly more encouraging news. Hope he doesn’t need surgery!
This really worries me. Dear God in heaven, what if Pudge gets injured, too. We only got a rookie as a backup. Even if Pudge stays healthy, he still needs a day off now and then and Rabello looks to be in that role for quite a while. He looks pretty good when he plays, but how do we know how he’ll do under pressure and how well the pitchers take to him? Just a worrisome situation.
