Side notes

Today is the day that the Tigers have a guest manager, Brandan Teague, as part of a charity auction that Leyland was a part of this offseason. Also, owner Mike Ilitch is in attendance today and tomorrow.

Ready for Roy

Pudge is leading off again today, this time against the right-hander Roy Halladay. Granderson is out of the lineup — presumably just for a day of rest, since he says he’s not nursing any injury. "Other than my allergies," he said. Brandon Watson is starting in his place.

Chris Shelton is in the lineup at first, which will be his first playing time this spring.

Here’s the lineup:

  1. Rodriguez, C
  2. Polanco, 2B
  3. Sheffield, DH
  4. Guillen, SS
  5. Ordonez, RF
  6. Monroe, LF
  7. Inge, 3B
  8. Shelton, 1B
  9. Watson, CF

Spoke this morning with Brent Clevlen, who says he’s fine after taking that pitch off the back of his head. He has a knot back there, but no other lingering effects.
