Pudge leads off again
That’s his second game in three days doing it with a left-hander on the mound, in this case Sowers. Thames is starting at first base, though Casey will probably be in later in the game. Here’s the lineup:
- Rodriguez, C
- Polanco, 2B
- Sheffield, DH
- Guillen, SS
- Ordonez, RF
- Monroe, LF
- Thames, 1B
- Granderson, CF
- Inge, 3B

We’re thru 5 innings vs the Tribe today. Bats are quiet (and we will agonize ond wonder why more this year).
Grilli was abysmal. I think he will be hard pressed to win a spot on the roster this year based on performance. JL seems to like him but I hope that is not the determining factor. I don’t think he is talented enough and very inconsistent.
Campusano is in to pitch the 6th and this is the guy I am pulling for to round out the pen. Ledezma is not enough. And keep in mind that Ledezma is also a trifle unreliable.
Eischen is a possility but I really think this is the guy. He just retired the Indians in order and struck out Peralta to end the inning. Given the way the Tribe are pounding the ball around the yard today that is pretty impressive. He struck out 81, walked 17, and gave up only 38 hits in 55 innings in the Cub’s farm system last year. All this while maintaining a 1.46 ERA
Fabulous numbers and if this lefty can make the jump we are gonna be happy campers.
Like your thoughts Dan. If he has a convincing spring training, given the potential in those numbers, they gotta keep him. Somebody will be disappointed and left out but the Tigers can always give Campusano back later on in May, June…whenever right? It seems to me that you don’t take a Rule 5 draft pick just to take a look at him in spring training. Where’s the adventure in that! Of course JL has a lot of intriguing options doesn’t he?
