It wasn’t the fact that the Tigers lost to the White Sox, but the way they lost that stood out. There was really no momentum behind them, no chance you can look at and say they could’ve produced a big inning to get in it. On the flip side, even if Nate Robertson could’ve gotten Thome and ended the seventh unblemished, there’s no reason to think they would’ve taken off from there.
The Tigers played three close games against the White Sox and lost two of them they went to Chicago to face them last month. They have very little chance of beating the Sox in any given game unless their pitching comes through with a quality outing. They’ve been able to overcome poor starts on the rare days they’ve had them this season, but not against these guys.
